Just wanted to pass on to anyone on the board who might care -- especially any poolies below me -- that yesterday morning I officially turned down a class date with Southwest.

It was the most difficult decision I have ever made in my professional life.

SWA is an awesome company (my brother has been there 8+ years, and rarely has negative thing to say). A year and a half ago, I would have been on Cloud 9 to be able to accept a class date there.

But, JetBlue is also a fantastic company with a stellar future -- one I think will pay off very nicely for me (financially, as well as quality of life).

My sincere best wishes to those of you who spent the past 2+ years in the pool with me.

Happy Landings.

P.S. Does anyone know if the Pool Rat towels are still available? It would be a nice momento of my near-career at SWA.

It's always a tough call; just never look back. I had a JBLU interview that would have taken place the day after I started class with UAL back in Jun 2000. I don't regret nor second guess my decision to go to UAL; you never know what's going to happen in this industry.
All the best to you.

You made the right choice (for you) good luck!!!

In March of 2000 I was hired to SWA with a class date to be determined in late summer. In the mean time, I interviewed at Delta and was given a class date about three weeks later. I made the decision based on every other yahoo in the industry telling me to take the first slot with a major of your choice since you never know when the hiring will stop. Well being a good southern boy, my co-number one choices were Delta and SWA with my leaning more towards SWA since it is more my style (I've have never liked and am not built for the double breasted look). I even told my wife that I would probably get furloughed now since I went with Delta. Well long story longer, it was a decision that I regret every day. I've re applied and if SWA lets me come back in for an interview and forgives my past stupidity I will come home to stay.

Dal737FO,

I've heard that FDX will be opening their website app link to anyone (not just for those who have already applied) sometime in the next month or so. We could use a few more good ole Southern boys here. If you know anyone here, try to get a rec ASAP. When our fiscal year starts on June 1, maybe we will see if all the hiring rumors are true.

Good Luck,

Dixie
