I swear I just read a memo from AirTran management on another forum last night about a 20% reduction in 737 flying on the AirTran side.

Weird, I guess the SWA pilots will be picking up the slack. Who would have thought?

January 3, 2006- "Southwest Airlines begins its Denver service today with 13 daily nonstop flights to the following cities: Chicago Midway (four daily), Las Vegas (five daily), and Phoenix (four daily)"

Threw that in there for a little historical perspective.

Here we grow again. After checking the Airtran res site, it looks like you guys lost some flights commensurate the starting of our new service. The timing of this announcement is not coincidental. We are a family, but sometimes we act like a mob family. And, as the mob Don has been known to say, "Nothing personal, it's just business".

Other than the web specials, the prices look to be about the same as DAL, with less frequent service. I expected a more aggressive entry than that. Clark Howard will be disappointed.

Skydash,

I had to start over three times reading your post because I kept glancing over at your avatar. Killing me. Hopefully fudgepacker wont see it because he will be terribly offended.
Let's see what terms he has used so far: Racist,Misogynistic,Homophobic....I think he would call your avatar Insulting freedom fighters by portraying them as stupid, fat, ugly leftist lesbians. Well....maybe not....

This is Deja vu for me because I can remember Eastern announcing flight reductions to X,Y and Z on Monday because of "market realities" then on Tuesday, Continental would announce flight increases to X,Y and Z because of "market opportunities". Within 2 years, Eastern had shrunk by more than 40%. Continental had grown in the same time period by about 40%. Texas Air Corp. yesterday. Guadalupe Holdings today.

Coincidence? So I would have to ask any Airtran guy. Is Airtran going to be an Eastern or a Continental?

Thankfully for me, unlike Texas Air Corp., Southwest isn't going into this broke and up to their eyeballs in debt like Texas Air. Something to think about.

Easy Question

Is Airtran going to be an Eastern or a Continental?
I'm pretty sure they have a fair amount of pilots that at one time or another worked for one or the other.
