Searching for intel on the latest SWA decision board. . . .
Has the board completed?
Anyone gotten any calls yet?

The board met yesterday 16Nov from 1pm until late into the night. I have heard from 2 in my interview group (Oct 21st 2004) that have been called so far.

Very thankfull to have received the call today. Interviewed Oct. 14. A friend who interviewed on the 19th got the call today as well. Good luck to those who are waiting.

I have a question for the guys whom got a call with a class date. Did SWA call your references before the DB or not. Im curious, My friend interviewed in Nov but none of his references were called. Is he still in the running???

refs

I had a buddy with about 2000 PIC turbine have all his refs get called and then he got word he would not be hired

4 yr degree, 5500 TT, ATP/CFII/MEI/FEX, 2000 turbine PIC, 1000 in Lears, B737 type from HPA, mid 30's, 3 recs from current SWA guys

who the he11 knows what happened with him, the fact remains that SWA is the most profitable, best run airline out there, flying brand new equipment, with a happy workforce, he will re-apply and try again

just remember a rock band from England was turned down by like 50 record companies before the last one gave them a chance. They later went on to become one of the most successful bands in history, called The Beatles

you give up trying something, you just ENSURED that you will not reach that particular goal, that is guaranteed fact

Still not called . . .

its "day two" post DB, and still no call. When do you give up hope for the call? When you get the letter? I share the frustration with SATPAK. If there is a code or a formula, it certainly escapes me. I keep going over my interview day and wondering where I mis-stepped, or said the wrong thing. I guess I too will re-apply for a second time around. . . .

I'll never get over macho-grande. Get me Rex Kramer!

Don't give up yet. When I went through the process everyone got a call the day after the DB. Then no calls went out the next day. Those of us who hadn't been called by the end of the 2nd day all but lost hope but someone in my interview group did get a call the end of the 2nd day. Wish it was me but it wasn't. My point is all the calls don't always go out on just the first day after.

On the other hand- the possiblity exists that many of you will receive a letter in the mail. I can assure you that it does indeed really suck. I won't sugar coat it because there just ain't no way to do it. I don't have to tell you how badly I wanted the job and how much of a difference it would have made in my life and the life of the wife and kids because I'm sure you feel the same way I did.

However, you will make it through the "grieving process" as I like to call it although it may not seem possible now. And for myself I found that there actually is a silver lining. The "no thanks" allowed me to reevaluate many of the ideas I had in my mind about what I thought I needed to be happy and to examine many other areas of my life. I certainly would have like to have been hired but I wonder if there would have been as much opportunity for growth as a person if I had.

Other silver linings would be that I don't have to stress out about an upcoming interview or DB. Also, I know where I will be for the next few months or more so I can concentrate on other things in my life like family, holidays, hobbies, etc. I guess you could say the same would be true if you got the call as well but sometimes you have to look a little harder for a bright side.

I too was and still am wondering why I didn't get hired. My letter writers were called so I assume I made it through the interview. I still feel frustrated at times that I don't have anything specific to improve upon- some feedback I would have liked to have. So I will attempt to improve on all areas that are in my control.

I desire to work at SWA more than ever after the interview experience. And like many others I hope that the second time around the outcome is different.

Zymotic, I'm right there with you, bro

It's been 7 months since I got "the letter". I got my letter about ten days after everyone else got their phone call or letter. So, I was in limbo for a while. I waited almost 8 weeks from my interview, past the decision board, to hear anything.

I've wanted to be at SWA since well before 9/11. I even had my deposit in at Higher Power in August of 2001, and all my friends at the time were telling me I was an idiot for buying a 737 type. It was "too easy" to get a job at SWA without one at the time. But, I wanted to go into the interview holding all the cards.

It's been tough since I got rejected, but I keep hanging in there. I've got a non-flying full time job and I fly on weekends in the Reserves. It's an exhaustive schedule.

The whole experience has helped me grow closer to my family and closer to, yes I'll say it, God.

And, now I have only a short few months until I can re-interview with SWA. I'm hoping and praying it will work out next time. But, if it doesn't, I know I'll survive it.

I'm very glad for all of you who did get picked up at SWA (and FedEx and AirTran, etc, etc).

But, for those of you still waiting, like me...It's not an easy time in this industry. SWA (and all the other airlines) have a tough job on their hands sorting through a really top-notch batch of folks. Everyone that REALLY wants this just has to hang in there.

It's going to get better.

Just received my letter. What a bummer!!!
Interviewed Oct 13th. This was my third try. Boy, I wish I knew what I was doing or saying wrong. I had 15 letters of recomenation and 12 online referals. Maybe forth time is a charm.....I'll re-apply in a year.

Good luck to eveyone else still waiting.
