What are the latest hiring minimums at SWA without a type? Has anyone here interviewed or know someone who interviewed recently without the type. A few months ago I attended an open house event and the recruiter stated the minimums were 1800 turbine PIC without the type. Is that still true today? Also I'm wondering if there is a correlation between how well one does on the type training/exam at Higher Power and chances of getting the job offer. Seems logically that may be the case. As always, thanks in advance!

When I spoke to Rebekah Krone at a recent job fair in Chicago, she told me they were calling folks WITH a type rating at 1300 hours turbine PIC, and folks WITHOUT a type rating at around 3000 hours turbine PIC (+/- 100 hours either way). Two weeks later I got the call for an interview with just under 2600 hours turbine PIC and no type rating, so who knows? I expect it changes from month to month.

I know a good friend that was just contacted for an interview. He does not have a type. I think he has around 1700 PIC and close to 5000 total. Hope this helps.

No 737 type; ~2400 hrs Aircraft Commander time & ~5500 hrs total; both after the SWA mil conversion of 0.3hr/sortie. Interviewed early Sep & still hoping they aren't done calling after last week's DB.

Best of luck,

Hey 265. Just so you know - when you get hired here. Don't call the captain "commander" and don't EVER call it a "Sortie."

Gup :)

A buddy in my squadron got hired back in June with less than 2500 total, approx 1300 PIC, and no type rating. There's more to getting the job than just the hours!!!

Hey Gup,

Thanks; who'da thunk there'd be different lingo in the real world? Just kidding. I guess I could have written "PIC, FAR part1" but the point came across. Still hoping to get the call from this interview rather than wait another year!

Have a great weekend all!

5500 ttl and just over 2000 PICT with no type and headed down on the 6th for my interview.

Anyone know how they determine who gets a call and who doesn't? Does a computer pick them out? Sitting at 5600TT and 2200 PIC with no call. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

On my last update with SW in June, I had a bit over 10000 hours, close to 1800 TPIC, 4-year degree, but no 737 Type. I got an email a couple weeks ago for an interview. Fortunately, I won't need it. There are a lot of factors beyond the TPIC time so each candidate would be a different case. Good Luck.
