My copy of "Nuts" just arrived from amazon today. I've been dreading reading "Nuts" out of fear it would be in the same vein as "The One Minute Manager" or "Who Moved My Cheese", but I'm already on page 50 and now I can't put it down.
Gumshoe and AMRCostUnit, your profiles are depressing me. If you guys don't get the call, I've got no hope.

Many with your profile have been called and hired. I have a couple of problems that might work against me:
1. Been an FO for 13 years now so only have 1700 Turbine PIC. Plus 2000 as FE on the 727 and the 10 that don't count either. I was Stan Eval (Check Airman) in the C-141B but that was years ago (circa 1991) so at least I have that going for me! I guess I should try FDX but they don't like active major guys right now.
2. Actively flying at a major. I thought flying the -800 would help. Guess not. They may be worried that I won't really "resign" and if/when things improved at AA that I'd go back. FDX and SWA have been burned like this before. I know exactly how to burn the AMR bridge (cash out the B Fund/401K) but I need to have the opportunity/reason to do so.
So don't think you're not a player. Never give up.

I wouldn't count the currently employed at AMR thing against you. We had 3 AA guys in our class. Two were furloughed one was not. I was also flying the -800 at a competing major at the time they elected to call me in to interview. IMHO the all knowing computer will pull your name out soon. Things might slow down a little for off the street candidates since ATA pilots will be given interview preference but with a target of around 700 newhires, it won't be slow for long.
