Does SWA have a commuter policy? I am in the pool and once I start class I will be commuting from BNA. Any help from a SWA pilot would be greatly appriciated.

Thank you in advance.

Commute Policy:
2 flights any airline and you aren't disiplined but you lose the pay. There are usually plenty of other trips to fly to make up the lost work. BNA has alot of SWA types living there commuting MDW and BWI. Both are easy but MDW would be preferred due to walkable crashpads. Need more info...feel free to PM me.

The SWA commuter policy is that you have to have 2 flights that will get you to work. However if you don't get on the flight due to there be no seats in the back and the jumpseats were taken then it is if that flight didn't exists.
If you do use the commuter policy you will not be charged with a no show, but you will lose the pay until scheduling allows you to rejoin your pairing. Rejoining depends on how close to your domicle the flights are.

That's not correct, the most recent sideletters dealing with the commuting policy indicate that even if the plane is full it still counts, you don't have to ensure empty js/seats... just 2 flights on any carrier that get you to your show on time if they operate as scheduled.

The policy is one of the best in the industry IMHO.

Commuter policy?? BOOOOO you have to give something up to get once. what a waste of a concession

BOOOOO-You. Were you in the room when this was discussed? Or are you just blowing smoke?

My apologies in advance if you were in the room.

For commuters, the commuter policy takes a lot of stress out of the process. The worst you have to worry about is losing pay.

D'Angelo.. you are obvously not a commuter. If you are a commuter, you haven't been doing it for long. If you are a long time commuter, you're an idiot.

You guys still have it wrong. It not two flights on ANY airline if it's a SW city. In that case it would be 2 flight on SWA.

FWIW,

If you go to the SWAPA site, click on scheduling policies, then on commuter policy. There is a sideletter, dtd Sept 1, 2004, that spells it all out. There is no mention of a "SWA" city requirement, and I know we were told in ground school specifically that your 2 flights didn't have to be on SWA. I've had friends in Dallas commuting to MDW on other carriers have to use the commuter policy, and they were were covered, as stipulated in the sideletter.
