I just barely got my SWA application in before the window closed, and got a letter saying I'll hear from them after reviewing my resume and regarding what comes next.

1. Anyone have any idea how long until I should expect to hear, if at all since nothing is happening with interviews?

2. How long between resume updates should I wait?

The Letter was dated April 1, 2003

Thanks

SWA App

I turned my app in a year ago March w/ the B737 type. I got the same same letter you did. I've got two lor, but still haven't heard a thing.

SWA app

Well, I sent mine in Feb. 2002. No 737 type, 2 LOR from friends in the company. I initially received a really nice letter thanking me for my interest in the company and acknowledging receipt of my application. A week later they sent a letter letting me know that interviews would not be conducted until mid to late 2003. That seems to have moved up a bit from recent posts. About 11 months later they sent me a supplemental form to update my flight time / 737 type status address info etc. They don't seem to want you to send in updates on your own outside of that timeframe. If you are nervous about if they have your stuff on file I would call Lindsey Lang, Employment Coordinator at (214) 792-5446. She seems like a really nice lady. Just be nice and I'm sure she will check for you.

So far I have not received an interview call and from the info we know of I don't anticipate a call for at least six months to a year. Not having the type probably is not helping me but I have heard different opinions on this. It just seems hard to justify an $8,000 credit card bill for a job I have no assurance of receiving. Anyway I hope this info helps. Lets all hope for SWA growth for all of us waiting for a shot at the best airline in the world!

LORs

Why not make it 10. Oh, plus a lunar landing, also. Got to keep that resume stack down you know!!!

Type is essential.

Do a thread search on type ratings and you'll see how that $8,000 investment is well worth it.

I was interviewed in June 01 with no type. I have been in the pool since August 01. If I had gotten my type before the interview, I would have been flying for SWA since January 02!!!

Something to think about.

The lunar landing must also be as PIC.

Re: Lunar landing

Oh, how could I forget - of course! AND it must have been completed within the last 6 months - then you're in.....well, maybe..

Hardy Har Har....

You guys crack me up.

Does anyone reading this board not understand that Southwest requires a 737 type rating for employment?

Have you not read the other posts about what NOT having the type rating during the time of the interview has cost in terms of seniority and pay? (About 14 months, and 120 seniority places, in my case. It's too depressing to convert that to dollar amounts...I'll just take someone else's word about that.)

Did anyone not understand that the Lunar Landing Currency, while definitely a new requirement, was listed on Southwest.com seven months before it took effect? ;)

Go get the type. Mow lawns for it if you have to. I hear Krispy Kreme is looking for "Donut Artist Technicians." (Note to self: go check the "Hot Light.")

Cheers!
