I'm on military leave, and my airline told me to surrender my ID. They said it was an order by the TSA, but they haven't been able to give me any written evidence. I have never had to surrender an airline ID when mobilized, before.

According to my airline, TSA says that we (on military leave) are security risks because the airline does not know what we are doing or where we are while we are away. Uh...hello...Top Secret clearance and I am a security risk? They don't know what I am doing...flying missions for, or in support of our defense? They don't know where I am? I'm in the GD Army!

Has anyone else run into this problem? No ID = no jumpseat, even though we are on CASS.

ALPA has been no help, as they have been "looking into it" since May.

That's BS. I was on mil leave (two years)and I had to turn my ID in as well(not TSA related). After about two months away from the company, they sent me my idea back and even sent another one out about a year later because the other would be out of date. I don't believe the TSA story!

I've been on military leave for 8 months now and haven't heard had to turn it in. Is it against the law to jumpseat while on military leave?
