This isn't the first company to be sued by pilots for age discrimination. The pilot might get a little extra cash but that's about it.

I think Texas Instruments also retires their guys at 60. I agree this isn't this first law suit to come up w/ pt 91 flight department. I bet the guy suing Exxon doesn't like his retirement package and wants a little more before closing his Jepps one last time.

Might be interesting depending on how it is presented. There certainly are few companies that are dispised more than Exxon in this day and age. A jury might just give a little come uppence to the oil barons. Don't know the final out come of the guy down in VNY who won the huge award against the Part 135 operator down there but even a significant adjustment to the final awrd would have sent a strong message to that company. I think Boeing has one or more suits regarding age discrimination within the pilot ranks at this time.

I wish my company was being sued for age discrimination. It would mean we got rid of some of the fossils that should be settling their creaky old bones into a rocking chair, not the left seat of a G-550.

I'm not for some arbitrary age limit but, sheesh. We've got more than a handful over 70 (many of whom look ready for the Shady Tree rest home). And don't give me that "If you can pass a medical" stuff. We had one guy keep flying even though he knew for many months that he was dying. He flew until he could no longer get out of bed without assistance. Died inside of 4 months of leaving the line. Who signed off his medical?

They should settle the whole issue with a mental acuity test and a physical coordination test. Then drop any age limits. I love flying with experienced guys up to the job, and hate carrying some old fart that is past his time and a danger to all around him.
