Subic RWY 07

Anybody know how much fuel/cargo a Convair 580 can carry out of Subic Bay to Ho Chi Minh City using runway 07?

I'd say not much unless it's on floats... there's no rwy 01 at rplb.

'kay... now that I'm done being a smarta$$ I have to say that I really don't know because I don't know much of anything about the convair... but I'd gladly take a swag at it...

Probably about a 280 kt airplane so I'd say you've got about 3 hrs flying. Those Allisons are probably burning 2000-2200 pph so you'd be looking at around 8000 pounds petro with a little extra because mom did it that way. I'm guessing MTOGW and MLW are not too far apart and the thing can probably carry around 25k so you'd be looking at 15-18k of rubber dog-dookie that you could haul out of there. You've got 9000 ft of pavement at Cubi... think it would make it out of there? I'd guess it would. I think I can, I think I can...

The 580 will most likely wind up on the blarney deep trying to climb after loosing an engine off of Cubi's RWY 07!! Too many trees and rocks to blow that man down!!

I bet if you look at the RWY Analysis you woud see the 580 can only carry about 2500lbs when operating off that runway!! That is legally, of cource??

Me gussess the Convair would need about 10,000lbs of fuel to make the 865km trip from Cubi to Tan Son Nhut, with the bloody alternate in Phnom Phen!!

Sounds like Nole made promises to FedEx that he couldn't make good on!! I think he should be sent to Davy Jones's locker for that and killing one of their pilots!!

So this is an Air Tahoma thing? Didn't know... and don't care. Man, they sure get around though. If they're as bad as their reputation then numbers probably don't matter. What I threw out were definitely not 121 numbers or anything... take it for what it is... a swag. You have a point, there is terrain off of 7, but I don't know that it's that bad. You obviously can't go straight out... you'll be turning pretty quickly, probably out over the bay and out that way. Probably the preferred is 7 in, 25 out... but that's not what he asked. So what BTSOMT really needs is a convair driver or someone from Air Tahoma or FedEx to chime in with a real answer.

I used to fly the 580 out of DEN to BIL. Ours had a MTOW of 54600lbs as we did not have fuel dump. We could get out of DEN on a 90 degree day at MTOW. If anyone was more specific numbers I can get out my old manuals and look it up. I dont think getting out of Subic rwy 07 would be much of an issue with a turn procedure at MTOW.

What the hell is Davy Jones's Locker, anyways? Wasn't Davy Jones the lead singer of the Monkees?[/QUOTE]

Boy either you are showing your youth side or I'm just getting too old.

No ye knaves, Davy Jones is no monkee!!

He is the keeper of the pirate underworld!! Kind of like the place the rudes are headdin!!

This swashbuckler would rather have the scurvy that work for the rudes!!

That must be some **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** fine Northern California Sinsemilla you're lightin' up! What's with the pirate gibberish? Give it up and come be a normal (yeah, it's a relative thing) member of this board... someone may even decide they like you.

Actually, this is incorrect. Davy Jones WAS a Monkee: www.davyjones.net/davy-jones-bio.html

I don't know which is dorkier, the Feathersword Pirate thing or me looking up Davy Jones on Google. Don't worry about going normal, dude, you're actually pretty funny!

If a FedEx sub-contractor is carrying illegall loads out of 07, doesn't FedEx care about their liability? What if Air Tahoma gets caught or worse?

As long as the freight gets there....FedEx doesn't care...

Now if the freight ever doesn't get there....THEN they'll wake up!

If something ever happens on that run, it will be hard for FedEx to say they weren't aware that tahoma aircraft were flying either over-gross or under-fueled.

HEY! FEDEX GUYS! CHECK THE PAPERWORK FOR THE HISTORY OF THE SUBIC - HO CHi MINH CITY RUN FLYING OUT OF RWY 07 and do the math for the Convair!!!!

Something doesn't add up. With "enough fuel" there is no way they can haul as much freight as they do.
