Any tips on getting students to keep the hand on the throttle til we get to a safe altitude? I am finding a lot of my students give it full power, then both hands go on the yoke as we go down the runway at the towered field I fly at. I'm always telling them "Hand on throttle.

Simple, Pull the power everytime the hand comes off the throttle.

Works everytime.

Please, on the ground, on the ground (watch for traffic behind you). Not just after take off. I have enough gray hair.

After takeoff alot of students drop there right hand on top of their knee. I used to casually reach over and put my hand on top of their hand. Try it. When they say WHAT THE....! You reply: "I just wanted to see what was so special about your knee that you keep letting go of the throttle".

My instructor did it to me back in the day and it was so creepy/funny I never let go of the throttle again. Worked like a charm with my students too.

Other methods include Duct Tape or threatening to only communicate through BoBo the sock puppet for the rest of the lesson.

Too funny. I might start cutting the power. Problem is, its a class D airport, so it can get busy. If I had my way, the mixture would be out every time!

That is classic, I need to remember that one!! LOL
