I have a separation date of 31 Dec. I plan to go to the Reserves, once a slot opens where I wish to go.

Is there precedence for the AF recalling pilots to active duty if they've left active duty very recently (eg, within a few months)?

Additionally, has the AF offered pilots to voluntarily return for a "short" period of time, like 6 months? Currently, you can return, but only by signing a minimum 2-year contract.

Thanks!

I would not think that there would be any distinct protocol on calling people up once it hits the fan. All bets are off and there probably would not be any rhyme or reason to it. It does make sense to snag back the guys who just got out.
I don't know about the AF, but there HAVE been Army pilots forced on to active duty this year who were just in the IRR, not in any reserve or guard unit, just happy flying in the airlines, and then whamo.
The past current stop loss messages have allowed people who started terminal leave to get out, but I remember hearing stories in DS about those people being called back off terminal leave.
I heard a nasty rumor of an across the board stop loss going into effect 31 DEC. I get out on 23 Dec...terminal till 15 Feb, we will just have to see what happens.
