Does anyone out there in FI land know anything about the 108-3. I've got a line on one and I'm looking for the the bad news. I really want people who have owned one or worked on one to post...

If you like to work on stuff, keep the Franklin engine. Otherwise yank it and put in a LYC or CONT

They are the "sleeper" workhorse in AK and very sought after by guys that use them for their intended purpose. Rugged, reliable and float capable.

Thank you for your input.

One of the reasons I like them is because they have very few ADs (tough, as you mentioned) and the Franklins get great reviews...except when it comes to finding a crank! I'll do a Lycoming 180hp conversion when OH time rolls around which is many, many hundreds of hours away. In the mean time, I plan on buying parts when I find good deals and stocking them with my IA. I'll buy it with the Frank165 heavy case. I'd think about the Frank220 if PZL starts building them again.

Is the -3 really as difficult to land in an x-wind as people say it is? I've read that it's an all around great airplane.
