We will be setting up a fund for Steve's daughter in the next couple of days, please stay posted for details. Mung and Chper are trying to organise this as we speak CHper more than Mung BTW. THe loss here is so great, I am on the brink of tears all the time and for those who know me that is saying something.
I drink to Scott and Steve, two more dead soldiers in this thing we call life.
There are now 18 friends I have lost and these two are the hardest yet. All of you out there be safe and please know, any time you are in the air, the ground( or sea) is real hard if encountered unitentionally.
Please BE SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUMP. When the story first came out....it was on almost every news station with live coverage. Interesting how after they learned no passengers were on board.....they dropped the story fast. I don't even see it on any news websites. I never heard about it on the top stories on AM radio news last night. From the outsider looking in.....this crash looks identical to charlotte......except no passengers. They showed that crash all day, and for many days after. It's better for the industry it is quiet like this. But i feel bad for the pilots.

I sent a message to CNN to that exact effect. I told them that their motto should be: CNN we live for mass death and destruction!

Bastards!

News Reports etc.

Reality Check - Do you really think the press would get it right? I have little faith that our illustrious press core would. The only reason they had the CLT crash on the news so long was 1) it was the first Part 121 plane crash in over a year, and 2) they had pictures of sheet-covered bodies to publish.

Let the system work. I have much more respect for the NTSB and even the FAA than the local and national news organizations.

Remember also, if and when the investigators come knocking on your door give Scott and Steve the respect they deserve and "tell the the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth" for they died doing what they loved to do and they died, ultimately, for us.

I have spent more than 900 hours in the cockpit with Scott at the survey company we both flew at before coming to Colgan. At our previous company you flew together, drove together, ate together, even shared the same hotel room. Our first trip together spanned coast to coast and lasted 45 days. We shared so many experiences, some good, some bad. I have been to Scott's house in CVG, and even had dinner with he and Lisa (his girlfriend) at Lunken Field. Everytime I saw Scott, he would remind me of one the special times we experienced. Even though that was a few years ago, he still rememdered everyone in my family; including there names, interests, where they live, even obscure stories or facts I may have told him years ago. I still don't know how he could do that. I was lucky enough to fly as his First Officer here at Colgan (that was a goal we had since we left the survey company) This past June I was in HYA on reserve alot. There was a four day stretch were he and I went to lunch and dinner every day. One night, we had an early show in HYA the next day. Instead of Scott driving home, he stayed with me in the hotel. Just like old times. I will never forget and cherish these few days forever. Now, he will always be sitting in my jumpseat. Rest in peace Scott, you will be dearly missed by all.

Ian and Randy,
"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge."

You guys epitomize this... You really do. Thank you for you guys...
So on Saturday, lets have a Bourbon for Scott, and smoke a Macanudo for Steve.
And let's laugh a little for the first time in days. You guys know that they would have wanted that. They're with us now, and always will be.
Vayo con Dios Gents. Fly high and fast.
Jason.

I've had quite a bit of Whiskey already, but will gladly have some more. I can't do the cigar thing, but I'm going to go and buy a CD of that Norwegian guy Steve likes so much.

I'll do my best and try and laugh a little. I don't know how much luck I'll have, but I'll try.

Godspeed to all

To all HYA pilots

Im trying to set something up for Saturday night, my plan was to get as many of us as possible together and then head down to the beach if its open and drink a toast or 27 to the boys. Any one is welcome to attend. I am heading down there tonight to fly tomorrow I will call as many people as i know if and when we decide to go. If anyone else has a better idea let me know.
Be safe and geep the greasy side down.
Thanx, Mung.

Post the date/time here

Ian, please post a message here too when you end up deciding on a mutual time. I'll be sure to be there if I can do it.
