Anyone have any info. on this company? Previous or New information?
I have the old info from previous threads, just looking for training (good or bad) /pay/ interview gouge/ internal info, etc. Any news would be appreciated.
I recently applied for a job there. Got a message on my machine to call them back. When I called back (next day)they did not know who I was. I was told an application was sent to me in the mail. Once I fill it out and mail it back the Chief Pilot will call me. Problem is, I live in Florida and have yet to see that application (2 weeks later). I already have another job, but that whole scenario did not impress me.
Sterling does their training at Flight Safety, new hires I generally sent for SIC training and then get typed after one year when they go back for recurrent. If you get hired in the Beechjet you can plan on going to school in the MU-300, which they also operate. I have heard that they are making new hires sign a one year training contract.
The schedule is 6 days off a month. You can "bid" what days you want but it comes down to what they need so there is no guarentee you will see the days you want off.
The pay system is a base salary plus daily flight pay. I think daily rate for PICs is $135/day and SIC is like $75/day. That might be a little off but it is close. The Cheif Pilot just stepped down, and the new one is a guy named Frank Duckwall. Frank is a pretty good guy, although the way Sterling's management structure is set up the Cheif Pilot doesn't have much authority The President of the Company is Rob Gort, if you are going to get hired it is he is the guy that makes all the decisions. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me, I know several of the guys over there.
