St Louis lost an Eagle (C model) this past weekend--the pilot jumped out with injuries, but just how bad was not reported.

ANN is reporting today that the AF has grounded the C model fleet except for mission essential sorties. They suspect structural failure in the loss of the St Louis Eagle.

Any clues as to what failed on that flight? What are they looking at?

I saw a 2 ship take off in front of us there KSTL on Saturday. I wonder if it was one of them. Glad he is good.

It was Friday...

From the St Louis Post Dispatch..

An unidentified Missouri Air National Guard pilot safely ejected from an F-15C Eagle just before Friday’s crash in rural Boss, Mo. The pilot parachuted to safety but suffered a dislocated shoulder, broken arm and minor cuts. He was released from Barnes-Jewish Hospital on Saturday.

Sooo, any clues as to what broke? The AF won't do this (ground the fleet) unless there are clear signs that something broke on the jet.

Albie--any scuttlebutt?

Word is post maneuvering structual failure, around the tank 1 area (behind the cockpit). This gives me time to catch up on Flightinfo..
