OK... I have checked the regs on this but would like some feedback on whether any of you have done this and whether you think it's legal and prudent. If you can legally be a safety pilot which is described in 91.109b, can you log second in command time for being a sfety pilot in an aircraft that does not require more than one pilot? 61.55a states there is an exception which is 61.55(D4). Basically that says you can be second in command if you are "designated as a safety pilot for the purposes required by 91.109. So what do you think. I have heard of splitting time... is this the way to do it?
