Does Spirit hire MD 80 guys over all other drivers?

Four years ago I would have said, most likely. Anymore, .....................with the oversupply of pilots.............., having MD80 time is definitely a plus, but they obviously will take who they deem to be the best qualified. I'm not an interviewer, but I'll guess that Spirits idea of best qualified mirrors that of SWA, JB, etc. The MD80 time would only be a tie breaker, and it would probably lose out if the other guy had Airbus time.

Yes there is alot of us pilots out here. Hopefully the spirit airlines of the world will soon be soaking us up.
Any tips you could pass along would be greatly appreciated.

Last I heard they were only hiring the 80 guys that they found pleasant and qualified. The last class had 4 TWA, a couple of American, 1 UNITED, and I know of at least 2 Northwest. All furloughed. Good luck.

80 time is a plus. Airbus time is most likely an even bigger plus these days. IMO, of course.
