Does anyone know the fuse that's used for the alternator which resides below the pilot seat? I was underneath the airplane the other day with the bottom panel off and noticed the large (wide) 40A fuse used for the alternator. I sure would like to have a spare or two should that blow while in a remote location. Anyone know which fuse that is and a replacement source?

Are you sure that it is for the alternator? There is a 50 Amp breaker for the alternator on the panel so having a second 40 Amp fuse as well does not really make sense to me.

I updated the title, I think it's an ignition fuse. I'm going to dig into some diagrams and see what I can find.

I can't find it in the resources I have. It's a shame not to be able to find this information so I had to email CubCrafters for assistance and waste their time. I asked them to please update the AMM listing all "fuses" so people like me that want to have spares for remote areas can carry spares whether for me or someone else in need.

As always, Pete replied in a timely manner and pointed me to the AMM which I read prior to sending as I hate when he says "it's in the AMM" :( Here is his response educating on the purpose of this 40A fuse and it seems the one I linked on Amazon is correct but asked Pete and I'll see if he confirms and report back if it's not the correct one.

Regarding the 40 amp MaxiFuse you found, it safeguards the wire connecting the master solenoid to the main bus. If this fuse blows, everything on the main bus except the ignition system will lose power. The ignition system has its own protection via the L/R ignition breakers on the seat base.

Instances of this fuse blowing are rare. In one case, it was due to a miswiring during kit building. Given its size, a blown fuse in the field would likely indicate a shorted bus requiring repair.

The part number for the fuse is SP55022-001, priced at $6.15 each. We have them in stock, and our parts department can follow up with an order if you'd like a spare.

In the attached PDF, the schematic isn't the highest of quality but find the master solenoid in the center and you'll see the fuse info.
