Last week I endorsed one of my students to solo and he has since flown solo under my supervision from the ground two times. Building trust with this student has taken some time as well as his first solo. He now has a new instructor and I don't feel confident having this student fly solo with my name on his endorsements unless I am able to monitor his progress both on the ground and in the air which is not possible.

Is it going too far (or even possible) to have his instructor replace my name with his name on the solo endorsements? (assuming the new instructor has flown with the student . . . )

Thanks!

Not in the least. The new instructor is now in charge of your ex-student. His name and endorsement rightfully belong in the student's logbook because he, and not you, is now supervising this individual.

You can bring it up to your Chief Flight Instructor if you're in that kind of training situation and are concerned. If not, you might visit FSDO and ask how to renege an endorsement.

Good luck with your instructing and with getting more trustworthy students.

just simply void your student's endorsements and let the new instructor re-endorse him/her. the new instructor will of course need to cover the required training outlined in 61.87 but after one of two flights with the student it is easy to meet those requirements.
