Southwest CFO sees second quarter above year ago
Thursday April 15, 12:52 pm ET

CHICAGO, April 15 (Reuters) - Southwest Airlines Chief Financial Officer Gary Kelly said on Thursday he thought the airline could surpass last year's second-quarter operating profit of 13 cents a share.

He declined to comment specifically on the consensus estimate of 16 cents per share profit in the coming quarter, which is the Reuters Research estimate.

"With all the normal caveats ... we think we can beat last year," Kelly said on a conference call. "Second quarter is typically the best quarter of the year and we hit April at a sprint in terms of booking and load factors, so, man, if we can sustain that, we ought to have a good quarter."

I was kidnapped coming out of Publix early this morning by some people in a gold and red 58 Edsel. The driver was an old chain smoking dude with bad teeth who kept repeating "we're gonna get you the order - dic head." I was sat on in the backseat by a plump woman who kept saying that I was trying to screw up her family, while the guy in the right seat was trying to figure out if they had enough gas to make it to FLL. He told the old dude that he had bought a rub-off ticket from the Florida lottery, and won $5.00 which should cover the cost.

Once we reached perimeter road at FLL, the car made it's way down by the end of the runway. As they yanked me out of the car, I tried screaming to the traffic on I-95 that I was being mugged......no one heard me! I was then handcuffed to the chain link fence, and could hear the three of them laughing as they drove away.

I then heard what I thought was a large pack of parrots sqwalking. To my horror, there was a line-up of 14 LUV 737's waiting to take off. The pilots had their vent windows open as they taxied into position. Each threw me the fickle finger of fate as they applied full power for take off.

I then woke up, thank God! :D :D :D

Hey SWA/FO

We made a little money. That's pretty cool, I think. More than most can say. Keep up the good work...
