The rumors have been circulating, anybody have any info. Inquiry minds want to know. It will be interesting.

I don't know how much truth there is to the rumor but I have heard that Southern is buying Cargo 360. Once again that is the rumor going around. Don't know any of the details. Hopefully if it does go through, the two groups can merge peacefully. We don't need any turf wars.

You've got to be kidding. Cargo 360 guys will want to hang onto those Captain seats because they help start the airline a whole two years ago and folks that have been at Southern for years will want those seats. The good news is, this is the "new" Southern, so no lifers left?

Merge the pilot lists????? ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ......... You're killing me.... Neff will run them separately and whip-saw them against each other transferring planes back and forth all day long. Look at how Southern is already completely disregarding the contract, and trying anything to erode/undermine it. Why would things magically change because they buy someone else?

The good news is, this is the "new" Southern, so no lifers left?

There are still some "lifers" there, but not many. Most of us got out as soon as we could find something better (which wasn't hard).

Good luck to all my friends still there. Hopefully no merger comes, and they just stay with the growth/hiring plan...

I know this thread is about a possible merger, but I couldn't find any other current threads with my topic. So...

Can I ask some of the Southern guys out there for there opinion of the company? Such things as QOL issues. I realize they do the 20days/mo & I have done similiar work. Does it always windup 20 days, or does it deviate back & forth(slightly more, slightly less)? How's the training process? What type of atmosphere? Is there any possibility of getting a type while going through initial FO training? How well does the Home Basing work? So forth.. ? Thanks for any input.

You can pretty much expect to spend 20 days out. You might get lucky and only do 18, but you sit home reserve on the other 2. Training is nothing more than a power point presentation. Really easy and laid back for my group. Sims are easy. There may be a chance of a type in initial if you do really well, but that will depend on if they are still short captains. You will not start in the left seat though. Home basing is awesome. You get your ticket information to you local airport and fly to work on the first of your 20 days. They can pick any airport within 100 miles I believe based on ticket prices. QOL is not so good right now, and I am not sure it will get better. We are experiencing a ton of growing pains right now and scheduling is a nightmare. Don't answer your phone on your days off. After you take you PC you will probably go home for up to 6 weeks before IOE, depending on check airmen availability. I had about 6 weeks off before IOE. At least they keep paying you per diem while you are home. I think they are trying to push a 2 year $24,000 BS training contract on you right now. I personally would not sign it. Overall we have a great pilot group with the exception of a few tools. If you have another offer I would seriously consider it. Hope this helps. PM me if you have any more questions.

Anyone know if Southern has CASS or if they have many jumpseat agreements w/ other airlines?? I know they are Home Basing, but curious what the personal travel posibilities are like.
Thanks, AV8N4Fun

No CASS, and I have been told that we have some agreements. I am not sure about them. I believe we can use Southwest, Jetblue, and a few others, but once again I am not sure.

We have had these growing pains for a long time... They are NOT growing pains, just how this place operates. Lots of empty promises to make it better. You'll see, just give it time!
