I'm going to South Beach and was wondering if there are certain things to do? I did a search and Miami and South Florida don't seem that popular. Maybe SB is different.

Stay at the Delano- if it's too much money, at least visit the pool, beach bar etc. Fun place.

You're kidding right? SB has more bars/restaraunts/beach/T&A than you can shake a stick at. Not to mention the biking/rollerblading/surfing/etc. You could five days on that alone.
Remember what happens in SB stays in SB.

Fairly reasonable food, huge portions go to "Big Pink" on Collins and 3rd. For cheep beer, Ted's Hideway around the corner.
If you want to get trashed, "Wet Willies " on Ocean. Drink called.. "call a cab". You need it after a couple. Great business,,, cash only!. But great place to sit and watch the world. Finnegan's is on Ocean, a couple of blocks north of Willies, good prime rib on Thursdays. The stretch of beach south of where Wet Willies is is top optiional. Enjoy!
One caution, due to a lot of South Americans and such, a lot of places include a 15% tip IN the bill, but "forget" to tell you. So, if you don't watch, you double tip.

Coloneldan and I went there once and it took a month for us to regain our composure !!

I second the "Call a cab" have a few and your are going to need too call one. Go to mangos and also the news cafe has some good food. If you go to Mangos get there wings they are so good.

Your kidding? South Beach is great! First of all what are you into, is it dining, dancing or just taking pictures. I've been to so many countries around the world and Florida is a great example of beaches and warm weather.

South Beach is famous for pictures of modeling and other things. I once did a report in school on Nude Beaches, they have become so popular, Haulover is a naturalist beach just north of South Beach. But there are so many other things to do in Florida just like any other state. You can visit museams, or take an airboat ride through the swamps, go to Outdoor World in Hollywood, a great place for hunters and avid fishermen. Rent a boat, go deep sea fishing, there are also some wonderful golf packages, very affordable.

There is alot to do here just like Vail, Boston, Las Vegas, whatever your into, look in the papers, you can find Karioke, great restaurants and great activities, or rent a car and go snorkling at John Pennykamp!

Maybe we need to have a South Florida Flightinfo drunkfest like they do on that "other" website.

McNugget, I think you have a great idea. There are tons of members here who are in Florida and a get together would be cool. Pick out a date and maybe post it, pick a place. There is a place I used to go in Davie called Ye Olde Falcon Pub, they had karioke and great servers. It had a British Flag on it, perhaps some of the members here know where it is and we can pick a date.

I live in Sunrise, and know the Falcon Pub well.

Go to the nude beach! Great!!!

See you on the beach! or Falcon PUB! Someone set a date!

Take a walk on the wild side....Lola???

Miss KittyKat,

I just can't shake the feeling that you're some swarthy sailor onboard a ship somewhere out in the midle of the Pacific, with alot of time on his hands, posting on this forum for some cheap entertainment value.....Please say it isn't so!!! :puke:

Don't get out much, do ya?

Wolf, sweetie, I do correspond by email and private message to many of the members here both female and male, and I have respect for each and every person. South Beach is a great place to enjoy like the sun, snorkling and just enjoying the view! Unfortunately, I don't get too much time to visit the South Beach area, however it is a legitimate corporate question as South Florida is busy with corporate jets and tons of ins and outs going on here.

Florida will continue to be a popular destination, a few words to learn in Spanish is not that difficult and may be helpful when visiting especially the Miami area. Diversity and a little Latin spice is cool and accepted in South Florida.

There are quite a number of Latin pilots who do corporate work here in South Florida and may even join in this thread to share where are the best spots are to hit on a layover.

If you have time and are on a layover here in South Florida, just ask or post, some of us know where to go, even the Hard Rock Cafe is a great night out, it is on 441 highway, and has some great dancing, and great restaurants!

Have fun on your next layover in South Florida! Amigos!
