I just booked a commercial ticket with Delta, and One of the legs says Song Airlines. I thought they put Song on hold? Did I miss something?

Yes you missed something...Song are the big green airplanes you see every day on the East coast.

As Rick said..yes, you missed something. Song started ops around April I believe, using 757s.

I remember Delta saying they would start Song, but then I heard that plans were on hold after sep '01. I feel like a idiot now, sorry!
btw, yes it's a 757

Didn't mean to make you feel like an idiot... sorry. I think it is only selected markets. First flights were Tampa-New York, then Orlando-New york. They have been slowly building up the route structure from there. Not sure how many markets they are in now...

Let me know how you like the flight. My wife is a Delta FA and is curious about passengers' reactions.

Well they have a pretty good presence in Fort Lauderdale and yes they do operate the lime green and white 757's with a white sperm on the tail. :D

Flight isn't until Dec.; I'll let you know.
But hey, is it unheard of to let a pax observe the flight from the jumpseat? I should be a fresh Commercial pilot by then. I just want to sit down, shut up, and watch! :)

Right now we are still trying to get back jumpseating priveleges for OAL (Other Airline) jumpseaters!

Pre 9/11 it was commonplace for pilots of airlines sharing reciprocal agreements to allow pilots of other airlines into the cockpit jumpseat. After 9/11, pilots are only allowed to ride in the jumpseat of their own airline. The airlines are working on a cross-referenced database that would allow all airlines to verify the employment status of pilots employed at other carriers to allow them back into the jumpseat, but it will still require being employed by a participating carrier to get in the jumpseat.

So the short answer is, no, it doesn't happen.

LAXSaabdude.

That would be nice, but this is strictly forbidden. You can always stop in before and after the flight, though. Good luck with your training.

Well, a friend once told me that they let him do that on AirTran. However, that was before 9/11; I figured it wasn't very likley anymore.

Hey, I'm just an eager aviation student, just thought i'd ask.

Ya, Song operates to LGA, flies right above my house in Queens. I like their lime green colors, BTW, did you say sperm on the tail??

Hey, does anyone know a good spot in Flushing to view landings.
