I recently took a type ride in a Level C simulator (and passed) but I have a 25 hour SOE limitation. The checkride started with the examiner saying I would have a 25 hours SOE, all of the paperwork they gave me to fill out said to get an unrestricted type rating I would need to meet several criteria and the one I met is the 2000 hours TT and 500 hours in a ME turboprop or turbojet aircraft which I do meet. I have 765 hours as SIC in turboprop and turbojet aircraft so as far as I can tell I have met the rules and I have read the FAR's and it doesn't explicitly say that you have to be PIC. His argument is that you have to be manipulating the controls, which I take issue with, because it doesn't say that. I let it go because I didn't want to start the checkride with a big argument. I am a big believer if you can't show it to me explicitly, I don't believe it. Am I being unreasonable or wrong?
It is probably not a big deal because no insurance company will let me fly the airplane until I have more experience but if I can get it removed now it will just be one less thing to deal with.
