Seems we have some clown at ASA that go and tells management that all the pilots want 3 on 3 off schedules. Could it be this person have his/her own agenda? Too junior to hold weekends off perhaps?

Anywho, ASA ALPA had a chat with management and informed them that the pilots did not want 3 on and 3 off, and that ALPA represents the ASA pilots, not some pilot with an agenda. So don't expect to see these anytime soon. Talk to your ALPA reps next time you try to pull a boner before you end up embarrassing yourself.

No no Hoser, that's not how it went. It was 3 on 14 off! Get it right, sheesh! ;-)

A captain asked for exactly this during the 'show-n-tell' with Mr. Hall during my recurrent ground, last month. It wasn't exactly as this post implies, however. After many minutes of Scott telling us how schedules weren't built for us, but rather for the efficiency of the company, this was one of the options offered.

Never has been an option, never will be. If you want it move on.

Agree. However, it was presented in the terms of there could be more of these types of trips built if it were something that the pilots wanted. The genus of this discussion was centered around why there wern't more three on, four off trips that started on Monday or Tuesday.

Frankly, I think it would be a good thing for the ASA pilot group as a whole if there were a larger number of 'good' schedules as opposed to a relatively smaller number of 'great' schedules combined with a relatively larger number of 'bad' schedules.

Don't take this the wrong way, but seniority is a bitch. All the junior people want more good schedules and all the senior people want great schedules. That's the way of the biz.

I hear ya. As I wrote this, tho, I'm about to bid for March, where I should be bidding either #4 or #5 on the A/C. I have a pretty good choice of schedule for where I'm at. (Historically, through sheer dumb luck, I suspect I've had one of the fastest climbs on the 'relative' seniority list of an A/C at ASA ever.) That being said, I still think that it would be better for a greater number of people if there were more 'good' schedules as opposed to fewer 'great' schedules.

I agree with you, this is the nature of the biz. It's kinda like saying that the government is unjust, unkind, and oppressive, but it's the best system in the world...

That statement isn't quite true. ASA had 3on/3off schedules in the 200 bid packet a few years ago in ATL. It didn't last very long.

I do know that some guys preferred that to 4on 3off all of the time.

While 3 on 4 off with a few daylines and a couple of back to back 2 days thrown into the mix is the prefered schedule at ASA (at least that seemed to be the results of that survey JMcG did before his stint as an assistant chief pilot) it would never happen for everyone.

I don't think that ALPA ever polled the pilots as to what they want - at least not in my 8 years at ASA.

Perhaps the guy that made the comment was talking about guys who only hold 4 on 3 off - I'm sure that some of them would prefer a 3/3 schedule after months of 4/3 - at least they would have more days off.

Either way I hope that things improve in the schedules for you guys. From talking to the guys I keep in touch with at ASA there still seems to be a lot of 4 day trips.

Pepe you were always a greedy little Iguana on WAY too much Crack!

lol just following the dream. Get paid not to work.
What's wrong with that. Aren't we all greedy in some part? I admit I would like 4 on 2 months off and get paid. Wait, haha, I had that for December and Jan.
I got my dream. Was good seeing you in ops the other day. Have you got the word yet on the other issue? I hope it is the right answer
