I heard it fromn a Air Wisky pilot on my way home the other day. But dont put any merit on it. If it did go through I would not want to be a Air Willy pilot.

Just out of curiosity........... why not?

AF

Lets just say "Skywest not union" ,"Air wisky union"

Not that the West Air thing should scare you. Because they got there aircraft after they went under. but they are willing to fly 70 seat aircraft for 50 seats. what will they do to put all Willy pilots on the bottem of the list. And the owner does not want a union on property.

Agreed. The commonality of the fleet types (CRJ) aside there really isn't a whole lot of incentive for them to buy us. Their management seems like it has always been anti-union and bring over 900 ALPA members probably will not help them stave off that eventuality. I would hope that they wouldn't staple us but I have read our contract and since they are non-union it appears that they would not have any obligation to integrate us into their list - aside from the choas it would cause on the line disrupting their precious #1 on time position. I imagine that they would likely just fence us all in for several years. But then again who knows - certainty is no longer a fixture in our industry so I guess we all just have to hope for the best.

My impression from the conference calls and from talking to management is that their ideal is in-house growth and they feel they have adequate in-house growth for the next couple years already lined up. A big part of the reason we are able to bid competitively for new flying is that we are growing and thus have a lot of employees at the lower end of the pay scale. Buying another company does not have that benefit. It seems to me that Skywest buying another regional would just be growth for the sake of growth, without any real benefit.

It seems to me that flying the 70 for 50 seat rates is growth for the sake of growth, without any real benefit.

Just to parrot Caveman... having people on the lower end of the payscale has almost nothing to do with it. Keep deluding yourself. That "temporary" agreement to fly up to 90 seats for 50 pay isn't hurting your chances of growth. Well done.

If SkyWest buys another airline the employees of the acquried airline will get screwed. Jerry A has said on more than one occassion that SkyWest buys assets not airlines. If they buy an airline they will buy the assets and then hire the employees that they want. Doesn't seem like an ethical business practice to me, but ethics don't matter in the airline world do they.

It's 99 seats....knob. Get your facts straight. :D

Here's the deal right from AWAC's CEO. He just said on the managment hotline that they are not even considering selling us. Even if they did sell us to lets say Skywest, Skywest would have to honor our contract. We have successorship language in our contract. There would be a way around this. If they bought us then closed the doors and took the assests, but thats about the only way around the successorship.

Ahhhhh you beat me to it............
Can't wait to see what sort of "negotiating" we can do to get the payscales seperated. Yeah that'll happen.

Tell that to the 200+ pilots who have upgraded to Captain in the last year. Also, keep in mind that the RJ70 is only 2 or 3% of the fleet right now.
