Steveair said:I'd go with SkyWest. They've got a bit more money in the bank and are bigger. They also have 2 partners and there are always rumors of another one coming. People are nice to work with. Per Diem is 20 cents per hour better.... probably comes out to 70 dollars per month. Better chance of a faster upgrade. Fly more places / variety is the spice of life. Don't forget to consider where you want to be based...

No one can know for sure how much Whiskey has in the bank since they are privately owned. However, they were running fee for departure for UAL with fewer planes than SkyWest. Consequently, I would deduce that SkyW has more cash. Just my thought.

logolight said:Of course AWAC ownes 9% of USairways. How much does Skywest own of a major carrier? Skywest probably has more cash due to AWAC spending 125 million of it's own on USairways. But I don't think one's decision should be made on who has more cash anyway.

In retrospect UsAir has never truely been a succesful airline. Look at it this way. Every time UsAir looses its ars and is on the verge of bankruptcy it goes and either purchases or merges another airline. And history as proven this. Look at Piedmont, PSA, Allagheny, Mohawk, and last but not least America West. In my honest opinion UsAir has been a doomed airline for the last 20 years with only a few good moments.
So to answer the real question. I would never work for Air Wisconsin. Their management must have gotten together one night and passed the bong around. And after doing that and a bunch of jello shots, come up with some type of retard plan for getting another code share agreement.
I am saddened to say I agree with this statement. I think United, with its route structure, was a better/more viable codeshare. I hope that United approaches AWAC once out of bankruptcy and asks for another RFP to operate their aircraft. US Air may last a few years, but in the end it will still be back in the same position that it was in Post-9/11. US Air/AWA can't "outdo" southwest in the LCC department; their system wasn't designed for it. US Air, with its potentially profitable northeast route structure, needs to bring back perks to keep the business travelers around IMO. Leather seats, pillows, blankets, free music/tv, FOOD, things like that.rogerdoger said:Even with America West management in place, its still doomed. \Hobit said:And you are right the current political culture has surely put a cramp on labors' power during negotiations. SKW is truly a reputable airline but what would happen if you couldn't stow your bag in the cockpit because of a stupid company rule? Who would go to bat to get the policy changed when mngt said 'tuff' ? And what if your bag was taken into the terminal and you went to get it and were suspended for a week w/out pay? Would you be defended by anyone? ASA had the union to do it, how bout you folks?
Anyway back to the real point of your misinterpretaion of what I said. You folks rjected a +1% raise. Admirable. Then ASA mngt offered a -8% cut for the 70 seat folks and then the twenty whatever jets that WERE supposed to got to ASA are now majically being held by SKW Inc. (not airline... INC.) for later assignment "based on Deltas forthcoming fleet plan." If you aint being whipsawed against each other than WTF do you call it Einstein?
