As there could very well be Coex Furloughed people in class at Skywest in as little as three weeks from now, (!), could any helpful Skywest people give an overview of the typical training schedule?

Coex was: 1 week indoc, 2 weeks systems, 1 week cpt/ftd and then a couple of weeks of sim. (But I hear that it's changed a bit since then...)

Skywest pays the hotel, is there any per diem or anything, or does pay start after your fopc? Which bases are senior/junior? etc...

Thanks for any help...see you all soon...hopefully!

Eat at the Red Iguana

Can't speak for the RJ routine but the Brasilia goes (approx):

3.5 weeks groundschool (1.5 basic indoc/2 A/C systems), with 6 sessions CPT static training arranged outside of class in SLC.

3 days FTD in FAT.

5 days SIM in LGB.

1 night A/C checkride in the wee hours of the AM wherever the company has an A/C overnight.

The most recent revision of policy (we just got it) states newhires will be doubled up in hotel rooms and reserve pay begins first day of IOE.

Most recent junior EMB domicile as of late was anything on the West Coast where it was too expensive to live on first year F.O. pay (MRY especially). Super senior are SLC & PDX. The conventional wisdom is for F.O.'s to try to get to PSP or FAT to live cheap and get a wide variety of flying/chance to pick up flights on reserve. Also, those two domiciles have longer trips which allows you to rack up per diem (which can be a significant percent of total pay first year). Domciles such as MRY/SBP/SBA etc., while awesome places, only have local trips. If you commute, you'd wanna be at one of the larger bases as well.

*** While in SLC, see above title of this post. ***

Can somebody list the training schedule for the CRJ?
Thanks

It was over a year ago so I'm not so sure about the exact times. You can count on two months from day 1 to IOE. They give a lot of sim time.

1.5 weeks indoc

3 weeks systems

2 weeks of sim

Wait for check in airplane (middle of night in PSP, BOI, PSC, etc...)

Wait for IOE

Total time = approximately 2 months. Then you start getting paid.

And I'll second Rogue5's recommendation...eat at the Red Iguana. Best Mexican food I've ever had!

Cheers!

The checkride is in the sim.

The airplane check is (what I was told) a ride to get used to the airplane. I thought that is what IOE is for...seems like a waste of money, especially since the CRJ sims are level D. Heck, I did my B737 training all in the sim and it was a level C!

Upgrade on the EMB120 basically has two checkrides, one in the sim and the other in the aircraft.

I'm not sure about the upgrade checks on the jet.

At SkyWest there is a 12 month seat lock. So pilots who are already at SkyWest who started off in the E-120 have priority in bidding into the RJ as long as their seat lock is up. If no one else wants to transition, or if those who do are seat locked, then SkyWest will put newhires into the RJ. Until then they go to the E-120. Since so many newhires have been going to the E-120 I assume there still must be unseatlocked pilots willing to transition to the RJ who have priority.

If you move from the E-120 to the RK once your seat lock is up, are you seat locked in the RJ with starting EMB-120 pay? QX works that way, except I believe it is a 2 year seat lock and Q200 pay if you elect to move to another aircraft - can't imagine anybody wouuld do that?

Your pay is based on seniority with the company, not with the equipment. Every time you have a training event you are seat locked for 12 months. The only two times that doesn't apply is 1. you can upgrade in the same equipment before your 12 months is up if your seniority allows it, and 2. The company can drop the seatlock if they can't find pilots to fill the positions, (ie. company need).
