got called for an 3/22 crj class.

they told me before that i was to get the e-120. I have researched the e-120 b/c of that, and i'm clueless on the crj bases, upgrades, etc. anyone know the upgrade times for the crj right now?

also junior bases for crj?

and reserve times at the junior base?

thanks

The most junior bases for the CRJ are as follows:

TUS, FAT, SLC, DEN

Hard to say how long you'd be on reserve at any of the domiciles. All we can do is look at what is currently happening. There was a new-hire CRJ class about a year ago where some of the pilots went to FAT. They are still on reserve. Some went to TUS...and a few of them have lines.

The time on reserve is a bit tricky as more senior F/O's generally transition from the EMB to the jet and knock your relative seniority down.

As far as upgrade time...SKYW is to receive 49 jets over the next year and a half or so which would require about 295 captains (my guess at 5 crews per a/c). If SKYW were to award upgrades for that many pilots today that would put upgrade time at about 1.5 years. Problem is, it won't happen that way. Min upgrade hours is 2500TT and 1000 crew time. As more senior F/O's get the minimum requirements they will submit their name in for upgrade. This has happened recently as my name was about #85 for jet captain last summer. I am now #320. It is obviously a very fluid situation with too many variables to count.

Right now CRJ upgrades are running at about 3-3.5 years.

Domiciles for the CRJ are currently

DFW - Reserve base with only 2 crews
DEN
SLC
TUS
SBA
SMF
PSP
FAT
LAX - Reserve base to be started 4/1 with 2 crews

Rumors of a reserve base in SFO also. We've been told that ORD will probably become a base by this summer.

3/22 class I presume.

I think I read in the latest bid award all the new hires in your class will be going to DEN. Only the guys that have been here a while are getting any of the other domiciles. Current RJ bases are DEN, SLC, FAT, TUS, SBA, SMF, PSP, and thats probably the order they run in as far as junior to senior. DFW and LAX have or will have a very small staffing of reserves but it will take a while to hold either. ORD may open as a domicile this summer and should go very junior.

As far as how long you'll be on reserve -- thats hard to tell. There are too many variables to give an accurate prediction. Obviously you'll hold a line sooner at a place like DEN as opposed to PSP. The bad part is EMB FO's senior to you will transition over after their seat lock is up and keep pushing you down the list in your domicile.

Upgrade on the RJ will take a while for a newhire. Junior RJ captain is about #830 out of 1500+ pilots, thats about a June 2000 DOH.

?

i didnt even think about the emb fo's coming over to the crj.

what about ORD? that will probably be the most junior base when it opens, i would presume. is ORD going to be a crj base only?

ORD will be RJ only. The company hasn't given us alot of info on an ORD domicile except 40-60 crews and a late spring-summer opening. I believe in a practice bid we did last December we didn't have 60 FO's that wanted to transfer there(but I could be wrong). If ORD does open I'm not sure how it will effect DEN -- as in will DEN shrink - remain the same - or ever get any more growth.

Wannab....

I just interviewed on the 8th...

got the call on teh 9th for the class on the 22nd!!!

I'll see you there!

CHEERS!

EMB120 CLASS

I interviewed in mid-feb and got my emb120 stuff a week ago. I haven't heard anything since then. Does anyone have any info on a emb120 class coming up?

Thanks

DK

LISTEN UP GUYS.....

To answer many questions here....

I Interviewed on the 8th of March and was called on the 9th of March (18 hours after I interviewed to be exact) with a CRJ class for March 22nd.

I was told in the interview that they were hiring for a May 3rd EMB-120 class date.

I was also told that based on your past experience/qualifications, that the company may put you into whatever class they feel would more appropriately fit you.

When I was called on the 9th by Julie in SGU she told me that there are 17 newhire CRJ FO's starting INDOC on the 22nd. When we go to systems training there will be a total of 40 new CRJ FO's (the other 23 are transitioning SkyWest pilots coming from the right seat of the EMB-120.

Thats all the news I have. I hope I answered all the questions that I could that were posted on here.

Best of luck to all of you!

You will bid toward the end of indoc training. The awards will usually happen by the end of ground school or within a week of completion. Pay attention to Andy's predictions as they have been fairly accurate in the past. He will come and speak to the class.

Does SkyWest give any allowance for things like a headset? Which headset are most of the RJ FO's wearing - Telex or Senn. Which model?

Is there a discount to pilots through SkyWest or another company for headsets and flight cases?

Do people bring their car to training, or do they rely on the van?

Thanks

You have few options. Keep using your DC's or what ever on the CRJ. People that wear the telexes often wear ear plugs and have the volume on the audio panel up all the way.

Or if you want to be a cool jet pilot and have cool jet pilot head sets, get them off Ebay. Cheaper and no sales tax.

A little off the subject, but does Skywest wear leather bombers or trench coats for the uniform??

WAY TO GO HERO!

nice try at hijacking a PERFECTLY GOOD THREAD!!!!

Couldn't you have tried something with a "Mesa - esque" theme if you REALLY wanted to steal the thread!?!?!?

I think the only thing that IS important is that they WEAR clothes when FA's come onto the flight deck....unlike some carriers!!!

Speaking of WN......

Now hows THAT for a thread hijacking!

OHHH....BTW, the "Official" letter just arrived via FedEx about 0:45 minutes ago!!!

Do people bring their cars to training?
I thought it was a "domestic partner" deal for benefits - apparently its spouse only - is this correct?

I hope so...tired of paying higher premiums for all the high-risk types getting covered. But heck, the queers getting married now will blow all that to he11.

Sorry, that's just inappropriate. Please vent your frustration elsewhere. Thanks.
