Does anyone know if Skywest guys who are current 121 jet drivers to do the sim ride in the interview? Thanx for the help!

Yes, you still have to do the sim ride. No slack either. Not difficult though. As long as you have competent IFR skills you'll do fine. They don't care how you fly the dang thing just as long as you don't get lost, do proper procedures, and are making corrections.

Find a ATC810 and fly a couple of hours of approaches. I've known too many folks that didn't do this, because they thought they were proficent at flying at their current job, and screewed up the sim. Skywests sim doesn't fly like an aircraft at all, it flys like an ATC810 (POS). Other than that, the sim profiles are pretty standard.

If you don't have access to an ATC810, there is an FBO on the other side of KSLC that does interview preps for Skywest that includes an ATC810 sim ride. I don't know the name of the place or the cost, but I'm sure that someone on this board might.

American Aviation, not Flyers, biiiiiiiiig difference.... :)

The sim prep was invaluable...
Actually got to practice the approach I was given during the interview.

And it won't matter what you fly, learn to fly the sim, its a whole different animal...better safe than sorry.

When I was interviewed in March of 04' guys with 1000 of 121 time did not have to do the sim. That may have changed. United guys also didnt do the sim.

You know...contrary to everything on airlineinterviews, I didn't findthe prep at American Aviation to be that useful, and other intervieweesagreed with me. Of course this was hindsight after theinterview. Before the interview, it made me more comfortable, butafter flying SkyWest's 810, the differences between the two sims areenough that I felt it didn't really matter that I flew AA's. Also, the profile I got in the interview was completly different. You should know how to fly IFR anyway though, so a different profileshouldn't mess you up.

I know of one experienced t 121 turboprop captain that was offered an interview at SkyWest and told that he would not have to do the sim. He was not a CO or UAL pilot or part of any hiring program.
