SKYWEST just MERGE THEM ALREADY

With what we would save in salary, health care cost, 401k match, letting the ASA MGMT team go (2 HR dept. 2 dispatch,2 sch dept.,2 payrolls, 2 of everything) YOU could afford to settle our contract and have SKYW pilots match out pay and not even notice a difference. BUt I guess in a mgmt team you don't want to have a smart business plan...WELL LOOK AT DELTA!!!!!

So my question is if he knows there would be a cost savings and admits it why wouldn't he do it? Was the purchase of ASA a short term thing? Why wait to start saving money, even if it would take 5 yrs to see?

You may want to re-think this. What happens when ASA negotiators agree to a huge percentage of the DCI flying allocated to Skywest, INC under scope? Don't think it can't happen. Now who is getting screwed?

Atkin stated that if he merged us, the company would realize 80% efficiency right off the bat. He stated also that it would take 5 years for Skywest to realize efficiency benefits from merging the two pilot groups. And, as Since states, Skywest will determine whether or not to merge, and that the two pilot groups may or may not be notified in advance if they decide to merge.

He actually said that he has already gained 80 % of the benefit ALREADY, just by purchasing us. It would take another five years to realize the the other 20 % and amortize the costs associated with a merger.

OK we do 63 % of our business for DL --so Delta pilots I don't think you can afford to lose 63% of your connection so shut up...but then again you couldn't make 220k-250k for the 777 so the company did not order them--ONE SMART MOVE on your part!!!! GO back to MAJORS board...

IF Skywest knows they can save money lets do it..and there is more to it guys then our a$$, pilots are not the only people that work there!!! WE can save alot of money and do even better for the company!!

NEW IDEA kind of like Airtran if our company goes out of business you DO NOT HAVE A JOB!!! yeah it is not HEAVEN but better then home depot everyday 8-5...

I member JA saying that ASA will not fly for United. Why not? IMO, because DAL doesn't want it's former assets being used by UAL - ever and never.

I would like to see some sort of merger but let’s face it, unless SkyWest and ASA operate as a single transportation system, and they will not, a merger isn’t going to happen. This deal was an alliance and a merger of flight attendants, mechanics and pilots isn’t in the best interest of SkyWest, Inc.

SkyWest pilots missed the opportunity to protect ourselves a long time ago and it's to late now. Thanks Chris, Mike, Dave, Dave and David you guys are a peach.

OK, just because YOUR companies percent of IT"S flying is 63%, does not mean that your 63% of Deltas flying. You are more like a few percent on the Delta flying scale. Remember that over 90+% of DCI flying is performed by Comair and ASA. DCI only accounts for about 20-30%. Could be wrong on the percent, but is is not much more than that.

How about some reasoning, to make this an interesting debate? Just stating opinions as if they were facts doesn't make for a very good argument!

I think Jerry is taking his time, starting with his "best practices" comparison, to see if merging makes any sense. It will take some time, but it could happen. Jerry (thankfully) seems to understand long term planning, and if he can make more money long term by merging, he will do it. Of course, if he wants to start the whipsaw game, because he thinks that's the way to long term profits, then that's what he'll do, but I sense he's brighter than that. At least I hope so.
