I'm looking for some info about schedules, are there some that would allow commuting from the west coast? Do they try to put days off together? Junior base? Pay?Thanks for any help.

schedules...well most bases are on the west coast, and some are commutable, some aren't. den is probably the commuter base for most.

days off for reserver are usually 2-3 day blocks with some exceptions. they are hard days off, and can't be moved around, whether you want to or not. line holders...depending on base have anywhere from 19-11 days off. we're moving to Preferntial Bidding in a few months system wide, so to quote the vendor "its' going to be great to be senior...not so great to be junior."

junior base: iah emb, and den rj. probably something midwest soon that's going to be VERY junior. $19.02/hr first year regardless of plane, and 28ish on emb and 34.5 on crj second year, unless you are furloughed from united, and then you get second year pay in your first year.

UAL guys are not getting second year pay from Skywest. UAL is cutting the check to them and it is an agreement out side of Skywest between UAL and there guys and gals on the street.

relax about the second year pay. I wasn't implying otherwise, i was just pointing it out. On a side note, several of the UAL dudes were lucky enough to be able to hold emb captain right away because of seatlocks and the opening of Iah, so for many, it was a moot point. (note...dude is not gender specific) not a whole lot of existing people were too stoked to move to tejas in the middle of the summer. but, that has since changed!!!

As far as interviews, it sounds like they are now interviewing off of the street, and there are classes, how many, what type, and how often, nobody really knows.

peace,
Mookie

The ex-UAL pilots who are now Captains in IAH are NOT part of the "second year pay agreement". The most junior Captain there was hired last March and is an ex-UAL pilot, but was not subject to the hiring program.

As for the seatlocks...I guess you are referring to the 1 year lock on F.O.'s who transition to the jet, right?

Anyway...the pilots who did come in under the UAL agreement didn't get to SKYW until mid to late summer. None of them are Captains.

Cheers!
