I was just wondering what part of Chicago all of the Skywest guys lived? It seems to be a very expensive town where you do not get much bang for your buck. How do you survive on FO pay there?

Try going west on I-90. The towns of Marengo, Belvidere, and Rockford are decent for affordable housing. Just stay close to the interstate, otherwise you'll be pushing the callout time on reserve. I live in Rockford and pay 550 for a nice two bedroom duplex in a nice neighborhood. Of course, you could just pitch a tent on the shores of Lake Michigan...

That depends on what your comfort level is and what you consider cheap... You can get some pretty good deals within walking distance of the Blue Line in the Logan Square/Humbolt Park area, but it might not exactly be where you want to raise your kids. Wicker Park/Bucktown is a bit more hip, but you'll have to pay for it. The Ukranian Village is starting to boom, so that might be an option too.

Personally, living in Rockford would equal hanging myself in the big garage that I could afford, but that's just me. ;)

Check this website for housing

And this website for the CTA Blue Line maps. (Best way to O'hare from the city by far...)

hahaha. Yeah, Rockford's pretty cheap all around, although if you just want a crashpad, its more worth your time to look closer to the airport. Im going to go play in my big garage now...

Im looking for a nice place to live. I want to get the most for my money. Im from the south where things are cheap, and some of those apartments in the city of chicago I saw were scary. I want new and clean.

Thanks for all of the replies
