Hey, I'm in training right now for the Brasilia, and was wondering how many Jep binders I should purchase. Rumor has it, all's it takes is one 2" binder???

No way on the single 2"... I use one 1" for all the flying I regularly come in contact with out of lovely FAT (All CA, MFR and RNO), and a 2" for all the rest, and it is a snug fit. It recently got "snugger" with all the IAH plates and were adding airports with every revision. If FLL comes into play expect to use 2 2" binders like the jet boys...

BTW WMU, don't forget to change your "current position" in your profile: You're gonna be a line pilot now. Cheers!

I second the 1" and 2" binders. I use the 1" for all of the airports and enroute charts that I'll need for the months line. The 2" keeps the intro, revision updates, notams, etc., as well as all of the remaining charts... Works great for me.. good luck in training! You're gonna love it here!

get two 2"

I use the 1'', 2'' method and I am out of room! Just go with the two 2" you will be happy, and when you transition a year from now you will already have the two 2", Just my 2" cents worth, JP

Binders??? Jepp Plates??? Updates??

I just use the FMS ... seems to have everything in there anyway. ;)

"Cleared for the Visual, Pull up to, but do not pass the Heavy"

-OUT!!

(okay, I use two 2" binders ... shhhhhhh don't tell!!)

Does SkyWest make you buy your own Jepps binder or do they provide them for you?

The company provides you with a lovely Jepp brick, you supply the binder(s).

During my extended time on the E120, I used just one 2" binder. I use a mil-spec helmet bag for a flight case, and that left plenty of room to keep the Jepps open on the side panel. The binder did start to get pretty fat after a while, though. After switching to the RJ and getting more and more plates, I finally went to the 1"/2" dual binder scheme.

I always wondered how the guys with the monster hard-side flight bags stowed by the DV-window would open the window in the event of an emergency evac. Optimistic thinking on their part, I guess? Definitely go for a smaller soft-sided bag. Ruh roh, did I just hijack the thread??

Now that I use an FMS, of course I always have the correct hi/lo enroute chart out and folded to the proper place so that I can follow along with the MFD. That way, when Center gives us a shortcut I'd never ask 'what's the ident for that?' I'm sure Mkay? does the same thing. hehehe :D

Nah man ... I'm usually asleep!! :p

I know M'kay personally and know him to be fine and upstanding man... That being said: Beware! His knowledge is only advisable to those who choose the path of the loose, able, and willing. 2 inches, one inch, do we really need to lay it on the table and compare?

Watch out! You will be left laughing with tears in your eyes by people you meet in the crew lounge and in the cockpit in this company.

Have a blast my friend...

Huh? Oh sure, whatever man. Don't think a single 1 incher will do the trick. Oh, and don't forget DEN or TUS. They're not west coast or SLC.

Then I guess my memory did serve me correctly f wadd. Is this Diamond Dave? Dave was a real prick. You sound a lot like Dave. Or is it Paul Bozone?

Your posts make absolutely no sense. Nope, I'm not either one of those guys. And how does my last post make me sound like a real prick? I was just pointing out some errors in your post. It's a fact that a single 1" binder won't work. End of story. But now I'm starting to wonder why you seem to be on every thread posting on issues you really know nothing about. I guess you have way too much spare time, being a Riddle grad and all. Ok, I'm done for now.
