JOB TITLE: Dispatcher
DEPARTMENT: Flight Operations
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time
EMPLOYMENT LEVEL:
DESCRIPTION: Assist the Director of Operations Control in the administration of the dispatch and crew scheduling departments. Will dispatch and/or flight release all flights operated by SkyWest Airlines.
Duties:
Assist in development and implementation of standard operating procedures
Work Operations Control shifts
Will be highly knowledgeable of FAR's, NTSB, HMR, and company manuals as they apply to flight control
Will perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Operation Control Center
Monitor the progress of each flight. Remain constantly aware of location and status of all company a/c
Issue necessary information for the safety of the flight
Cancel or amend, (121) flights if, in the opinion of the dispatcher or pilot-in-command, the flight cannot operate or continue to operate safely as planned and released
Delay and add flights, amend routing and realign crewmembers as necessary to ensure optimum coverage of and adherence to the published flight schedule
Monitor the weather along flight routes and at all destinations and alternate airports
Prepare flight control releases, and dispatch aircraft and crews
Communicate delays, overflights, and any deviations to the flight schedule to all agencies affected. These include, but are not limited to, down line stations, maintenance personnel, flight crews and management personnel
Coordinate with maintenance control or the Director of Maintenance to resolve aircraft maintenance malfunctions which might affect the flight schedule. Work in collaboration with maintenance planning, to schedule aircraft into maintenance bases in a timely manner
Make timely flight following inputs
Retain copies of all releases for 90 days, completed copies of the proposed daily schedule and record of radio communications for a period of 30 days

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Must have Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate
Must be at least 23 years of age
Able to work under pressure
Good communication skills
Positive attitude
Work well with others
Willing to work weekends, holidays, shift work
Must be a US citizen or possess a permanent resident visa or work permitt
Pass ten year FAA background check and FAA mandated pre-employment drug test
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
Must be willing to relocate to SkyWest Corporate Office in St. George, Utah
