Here is part of a response I made to this question on another thread.
"According to the current seniority list of 1556 pilots (including 67 EMB FOs currently in training) the most junior line qualified EMB FO is in SBP with seniority number 1486. Here is a list of domiciles and the seniority number of the most junior EMB FO at each including the number of FOs in that domicile.
Base/Seniority/ Amount of FOs/ City Name for those who need it
SBP 1486 10 FOs San Luis Obispo
FAT 1485 36 FOs Fresno
IAH 1482 27 FOs Houston
SBA 1467 10 FOs Santa Barbara
DEN 1462 11 FOs Denver
SMF 1461 5 FOs Sacramento
PSP 1430 23 FOs Palm Springs
MRY 1421 12 FOs Monterrey
SLC 1419 44 FOs Salt Lake City
SAN 1342 20 FOs San Diego
PDX 1267 23 FOs Portland
Of the 20 most junior line qualified FOs, 10 are FAT based, 7 IAH based, 2 SBP based, and 1 SBA based."
I don't think we've hit the quota yet. I know that the furlough coordinator at UA has tried to contact furloughees about future slots at SkyWest. Most recently for the 3/3 class.
Just looked and some other new-hires just got San Diego too.
I have no idea how they got PDX. All I know is what I see as a posted bid award.
PDX is very senior. Three days ago the junior pilot there had about 1.4 years seniority.
As for Captains...after United decided to cut down on the flying in the PNW, SkyWest had to cut the size of the domicile. Many Captains were displaced and are trying to get back. Overall, Portland is the most senior domicile.
No. SkyWest never operated RJs out of PDX. They flew a couple of Delta Connection flights into and out of PDX from SFO and SLC but the crews and airplanes were SLC based on the Delta Connection side about 3 years ago. PDX is a solely an EMB base on the United Express side. People have always speculated on SkyWest RJs in PDX but ever since 9/11 United has been shrinking the northwest flying instead of increasing it.
Actually PDX has some DCI RJ flying. There is at least one SLC trip a day. I believe there will be some UAX RJ flying as well coming shortly. That would likely be LAX-PDX. It has never been an RJ domicile and probably won't be any time soon.
Callout time on reserve is an hour and a half. In my year and a half of being on reserve as a jet captain I've only been called out on short notice half a dozen times. Usually they fill my schedule a few days in advance or the night before.
Min days off for reserve is 10-11 days off depending on 30 or 31 days in the month. I've rarely flown all my reserve days- good for me living close, bad for those who commute.
Hiring 245 pilots this year.
Most all of the last couple jet classes have gone to Denver.
