How long to sit reserve in DEN for Skywest before getting a line as FO?

How many days/mo are the reserve bids?

What is normal line days/mo?

Thanks,
Check Six

Prob 6 months to just get a reserve line from DOH and about 10-12 months to hold a consistent line. Reserve is 10 days off a month, think its going to 11 days off or 19 max duty days. The lines are all different, too many of them. Good luck!

Most of the reserve lines are 5 on, 2 off, 4 on 3 off, 5 on 2 off, 4 on 3 off, or some other combination of that adding up to 10 days off.

I agree with the above, June my first line and I got the last line. I have been here 14+ months. I've been on RSV the whole time in DEN. With more EMB transitions coming in when they are done with class I will soon be back on reserve forever unless there is more growth. ORD starting to look tempting except I live in DEN! Good luck.

I wouldn't go to ORD. The DEN-ORD commute is BRUTAL.

I know, just frustrating sometimes to know I could hold a decent line there but no I wouldn't do ORD unless I lived there. Thanks, I agree, any commute sucks but that one would be horrible!

If I were you, I'd bid MKE over ORD. I do the DEN-MKE commute along with 10+ other Captains. It's getting tougher, but I hear its not as tough as ORD. You can utilize F9, OO, YX, FedEx, and OO flow thrus (IE: DEN-DSM (UA), DSM-MKE (YX).) If you have been here 14 months, you'd hold a pretty good line in MKE (FO) I bet.

Thanks for the input guys, I know it all comes in waves and I think for QOL I'm still better off in DEN for now but MKE does sound better to me than ORD if thats the way I go.
One day at a time!
Cheers!

One thing you need to know about reserve is that people like to drop the last roundtrip of their trip and as a reserve they'll call you in to do it. I can't tell you how many times they've called me in to do a GJT turn. A huge waste of time unless you live near the airport.

Why don't you just bid the springs? It's easier to drive an extra hour than to commute to MKE or ORD.

You'd still have to get a handful of nights at the hotel if you commuted DEN-MKE. The flight schedules and lines don't match up well.

A good friend is sitting on RSV in ORD. Has been for a good 4-5 months. He just flew for the first time in 7 weeks. Thats a lotta days off.
