Looks like the son of a friend of mine who was just hired by Skywest will be awarded the Brasilia. I don't know much about about domiciles but I have a few questions.

1. What would be the most likely domiciles for the Brasilia for newhires? Is LAX a base?

2. How many sectors per day would be likely around SoCal? I understand reserve could be slow at first. Are we talking 5-7 sectors per day in/out of LAX?

3. How long is the seat-lock at Skywest? How long before he could bid something else or another domicile?

4. Lastly, what is the "estimated" upgrade time at Skywest?

umm...

I'd guess new hires will end up in someplace like Fresno, maybe Palm Springs or Salt Lake...

In and out of LAX? It depends... some days are slow (i.e. FAT-LAX then LAX-IYK and done), while others could have up to 8 legs. Whether or not it's all SoCal is tough to say. There are a lot of trips that start in one place and flow through to the SFO system.

He can bid the jet and/or another domicile right away... same with upgrade. He can bid it right away... probably a little over a year now in the Brasilia. Longer in ther jet.

FAT,PSP,SLC are junior, LAX is a reserve base only and is also junior.

On reserve you're either flying a ton or not at all, it varies dramtically and depends on your base. Lots of 8 leg days in socal if you are based in FAT,PSP. It does vary though and can take you up and down the california/oregon coast.

Seat locks are 1 year but are routinely shorter when the company is short on pilots. Bidding for another domicile can be done right away.

4. Lastly, what is the "estimated" upgrade time at Skywest?

On the Bro the junior person has been here about a year. For the Jet 2-3 but upgrades are not going to junior people anymore.
