Flow inducers on the outboard leading edge of the ERJ-145...

So, yea, I guess a "plane part..." :)

There is a "T" in the word somewhere :p

Vortilon perhaps, they help to sustain airflow over the ailerons at high AOA I thinks. I don't know I just push the levers 'til it clicks in the detent and pull back when the other guy starts counting to 8 or something :D

I would say memorize all 14, but just be able to actually replicate your 3 favorite ones in the simulator. What are the odds of having to perform all 14 during a check ride?

No, it's "Vortilon" in Brasillian. In English the word is "Vorleron."

In German the word is "Vergachtenspractenoptingezinsgenspringer."

Bet you didn't know that... ;) :D

What? Only 3 memory items? We had like 19 when we took our E120 checkrides and they tested every one. Any screw up on memory items was unsat. Wow what a difference in training procedures.

We had to write them verbatim after the second week of systems, say them verbatim during systems integration and perform them verbatim in the sim. Plus we had to be able to draw the original electrical system, the modified and the modified post modified electrical systems and how they handled auto transfers. To this day I still remember all the useless information like the Hydraulic tanks are pressurized to 7 PSI, at 4PSI you get the Hydraulic Reservoir low pressure light.

Only three memory items, or even 14? Wow, wish I had flown Embraer's for Skywest instead of ASA.

Yup, it's only 3. Everything else is on the card, then the QRH. Pretty good "system" it seems, mimics the majors according to a captain I flew with who's on furlough.

True

3 it is. I'm typing from a computer at Flight Safety LGB. Taking my 120 sim check tomorrow morning. The only memory items are Prop Overspeed, Rapid Dec., and Smoke in the cabin. In any other case, you're directed to consult the QRC and perform the tasks followed by the QRH.

I understand that SkyWest will be doing the same for the CRJ, reducing the number of memory items checklists and using a set of memory/emergency cards like the major airlines use.

Vortilon = VORTex generatIng pyLON....word created by Douglas aircraft and first seen on the bottom of the DC9 wing as a result of Cl lower than expected in tunnel testing.
