Hi!

I recently flew in a DO-328 recently (YYZ-MKE), and heard the news.

USA Jet is looking for guys. It is a pretty good gig (NOT as good as Airtran!), and it's an easy commute from WI-we have CASS and JS agreement with NWA.

PM me with your email for detailed info.

ALPA-Sponsored Job Fair/Seminar/Forum and Workshops for All Furloughed Members at DFW
January 26, 2008
ALPA International is sponsoring a job fair and employment seminar at a discount for furloughed members at the Sheraton Grand Hotel @ DFW Airport from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008, as well as career workshops on Jan. 25 and 27. Representatives from more than 20 airlines will participate in the forum and job fair.
The program will be conducted by AIR, Inc. (Aviation Information Resources, Inc.), an Atlanta-based company that specializes in helping pilots make informed decisions in their job search and to develop their careers as airline pilots. AIR, Inc. provides timely employment information as well as products and services that help pilots plan their job search, understand the hiring process, and effectively market themselves.
The January 26 Seminar, presented by AIR, Inc.’s president Kit Darby and vice president Becky Dean, will address the following:
  • Current airline industry outlook—10,000 to 12,000 new jobs in 2008.
  • Job search planning that works.
  • Airline pilot job market forecasts through 2015.
  • Successful interviewing techniques.
  • Writing a winning resume and cover letter to get the interview you want.
  • The “ins and outs” of employment applications and cover letters.
  • Preparing for pre-employment medical exams, testing, and simulator evaluations.
  • Answers to all your personal questions by AIR, Inc. experts.
During the Airline Forum, each company/airline recruiter will talk about its hiring and fleet plans, likes and dislikes, tips on getting hired by their airlines, tips on flying through the downturn, and more, thereby allowing more time for individualized questions to be asked face-to-face in the Job Fair.
The Job Fair will provide the opportunity to meet one-on-one with key recruiters, personally deliver your resumes, ask questions and learn more about the companies you are pursuing. Interview attire and generic resumes are all you need. To see a list of the airlines planning to attend, go to http://www.jet-jobs.com/seminar/current_seminar.html.
The discounted cost of the seminar, forum, and job fair is $125 for Air, Inc. members ($150 for nonmembers), which includes continental breakfast, lunch, and an 80-page workbook. An ALPA-discounted Air, Inc. membership or renewal is available for $50 (regularly $209 / $164 for renewal). Balance paid by ALPA.
To register, call 1-800-JET-JOBS (538-5627) Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. EST. Registration deadline is Monday, January 21, 2008.
Career workshops on Friday and Sunday, Jan. 25 and 27 are scheduled as follows:
Friday, Jan. 25
2 p.m.–5 p.m.: CRM in the Interview
6 p.m.–9 p.m.: Resumes, Cover Letters, and Applications

Sunday, Jan. 27
7:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m.: Interview Survival
11:15 – 2:15 p.m.: Testing and Simulator Evaluation
2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.: Military to Airline Transition

The discounted cost at the door is $35 for AIR, Inc. members, $45 for non-members.
Before Jan. 18 – $30 for AIR, Inc. members, $40 for non-members

The Sheraton Grand Hotel @ DFW Airport is offering discounted room rates to those pilots attending the DFW Job Fair. In order to take advantage of this rate, you must call (800) 345-5251 or (972) 929-8400 and ask for the AIR, Inc. Room rate of $102 single/double. The deadline to receive this discounted rate is Jan. 11, 2008.
2008 Seminar/Job Fair months and locations are:
Dallas, TX – January 26, 2008
Los Angeles, CA – March TBA
Atlanta, GA – May TBA
Washington, DC – September TBA
Atlanta, GA – November TBA

More than 11,100 pilot jobs have been created so far this year and there are still two months left in ‘07. AIR, Inc. forecasts over 12,000 new jobs in 2008. Airlines have hired between 700 – 1,000 pilots each month this year.

Dear Furloughed Pilot:
As you are aware, our industry has seen an unprecedented number of furloughs across nearly all of our carriers. While some of our pilots are returning to the cockpit, still others face new rounds of furlough. To date, approximately 4,400 ALPA members remain furloughed. Despite the financial pressures that these numbers have placed on the Association, we remain committed to providing our displaced members with as strong a package of furlough assistance as we possibly can.
The Executive Council has approved an agreement with AIR, Inc., the airline pilot career information firm, to make its services available to this large group of furloughees at a reduced cost. An annual membership in AIR, Inc. is available to those ALPA pilots furloughed after September 1, 2001, for a fee of $50, with the Association picking up the remainder of the cost. This membership is normally $199. In addition to this service, all ALPA pilots furloughed after September 1, 2001, will also receive free of charge AIR, Inc.’s e-subscription, Airline Pilot Careers magazine, as well as their e-application system, AIRApps.
Pilots who sign up will receive:
  • AIR, Inc.’s Airline Information and Address Directory (Print & Web), Airline Pilot Job Monthly newsletter (PDF & Web), Airline Pilot Careers magazine (Print & Web), U.S. Airlines Salary Survey (Web), Application Handbook (Web), Airline Fleet Directory (Web), Pilot Career Guide (Web), and Pilot Resource Guide (Web only);
  • career counseling via AIR, Inc.’s toll-free phone number;
  • attendance at any scheduled AIR, Inc. seminar this year for a reduced fee of $125 for AIR, Inc. members ($145 for nonmembers);
  • other online career support, including e-application and job referral system via the AIRApps.com website.
To apply for this special ALPA membership, furloughed members should sign onto the Crewroom at Crewroom.alpa.org. The AIR, Inc. registration link can be found by clicking on My ALPA, located on the left-side menu, and then clicking on Furlough Privileges under Benefits. The link is located on the ALPA Furlough Resource website. The ALPA Furlough Resource website can also be found by clicking on Member Benefits, located on the left-side menu of Crewroom.alpa.org, and then clicking on Furlough Privileges. Once the registration form is completed, it will be reviewed to determine your eligibility and forwarded to AIR, Inc. for processing. Members who do not have Web access may register for their AIR, Inc. membership by calling (800) JET-JOBS. Members who have access but don’t know their password may call their Membership analyst (numbers are listed in the Air Line Pilot magazine). All other inquiries may be directed to Nancy Halsey of the ALPA Communications Department at 1-888-FLY-ALPA, extension 4447.
Furloughed pilots who do not wish to participate in any portion of this program have the option of not participating by completing the appropriate field(s) on the registration form.
Your union will continue to do everything we can to return our members to their cockpits. Whatever shape the industry takes in the months and years ahead, we remain committed to securing all of our members’ futures.
We believe the added value of this special offer from AIR, Inc. will give you an extra edge in your job search.
Fraternally,
Captain John H. Prater
President

You are a good guy cliff

I'll second that. This industry needs more proactively helpful people. Flying Falcon 20s and DC-9s would be a great experience for those interested in either corporate or airlines going forward. Plus, you'll get to see more of the country (vs. just the Midwest).

Cliff,
ASA is hiring a ton of people also. Not sure if you want to be based in the south. Their starting pay is 23 an hour first year FO's. Just another regional though.
SkyWest is hiring, I think their pay is going to 22 an hour. But their pilot group ride the backs of all the people that were union and fought for what they have. Good airline, just the pilot group has no balls to stand up for what they want.
Comair, is a good airline and hiring. I have some great friends there, just not sure what will happen to them if Delta and NW merge.
Crap water (Chautauqau), they are always hiring. Fly good equipment, not really sure about their pilot group.
Mesa, will hire anyone with a heart beat if you want to wear the purple wind breaker. They just flat out suck. I wouldn't let my dog fly on them.
Mesaba, very good pilot group, great people there.
I hope that helps you.

Cliff,

Somebody posted your review of USA Jet in the crew room. It really sounds good. We all appreciate the help.

On another point, I really enjoyed (and miss) your avatar of the ladies with the M16s.

Thanks again.

I used to fly the Dork Jet at Skyway. I'm also willing to help out anyone interested in NetJets. I think you'll find it's a much better gig than the airlines and pays very well with excellent benefits.

SkyWest is hiring mechanics at MKE and ORD. US Airways is looking for a few good guys also so my friend tells me.

SkyWest isn't a bad place to work. I was there for three years and while it did have it's problems, what job doesn't? US Airways i hear is actually looking for a good number of guys (double digits) from what I hear. I'm not/ never have been on property there so that's second hand info. There are up for contract negotiations later this year. Take it for what it's worth.

USA 3000 was hiring for MX a few months ago but the posting has been pulled off the website. Maybe they might open a position or two soon.

There is also a contract mx company at ORD that does work for Polar and Atlas. No bennies. Pay is ok and the hours are long at times but overall, not a bad place to work.

Volt aviation has had listings on monster.com although i'm 99.9% sure that's a contract for NWA. I have been wrong before though.

American Eagle shows multiple cities for mx hiring also.

Mechanics?

ASA has a recruiting crew at the Wyndham hotel at the MKE airport today from 1400 to 1900.

Yes the above is for Mechanics, not sure about any other jobs i.e. pilots, ramp, ops etc.

Yeah, and those mechanics guys are on this board WAY more than the mechanics board.

BTW- Three whole threads on the mechanics' board.

ATPCLIFF, curious about what the incoming recession will do to a company like USAJET. I have heard nothing but good things about you all but isn't on demand feast or famine?

If it helps, I think a few ex Skyways guys are trying to set up a similar thing here at JetBlue. I am not sure on the details but I know a few ex Skyways guys that are pushing for a job fair/interview thing for the guys that lost their jobs and are qualified. Don't quote me on it but I will look into it and post more when I find out.

Hi!

It's hard to say. Cargo will definitely be affected, but our ABQ operation and NCAA won't. Our PAX flying, mgmt of overseas freight shipping and other areas are growing, which is good. We are slowly diversifying.
