Anyone have any info on whether or not Skyways will be getting the 20 ERJ135s they have on order. I know that I talked to someone in their investor relations dept. about 1 1/2 years ago and they were in negotiations to try to defer deliveries until 2006 or beyond. Last time I was on embraers website, they still had a firm order. Any info anyone?

Do a search, I think some Skyway pilots a ways back said that Midwest Holdings could no longer afford them right now. And I think the order was for 145's.

Just checked the Embraer website, we were all off, the order is for 20 140's!

Skyway Embraers

I doubt we'll get the Embraers at Skyway (Midwest Connect). Now, I may be proven wrong, but at the very least I'd expect them to be deferred for a long, long time. We have a successful 328 jet program, and are trying to buy more of them. Dorkjet prices are in the basement compared to ERJ's. It seemed like people were giving them away with a 100 gallon fuel purchase for a while. In addition, if the Delta thing would manage to go through, we'd be flying more 328's from them.
While I'd rather fly something sexier looking like an Embraer, we might as well embrace the madness and stick with the Dorkjets. Our mechanics have them flying well, they're on the certificate, we have a training program, and basically they seem to work well with our particular corporate plans. Going to a 2 jet fleet for an airline our size (and with our ramp space!) seems like a bad idea.
Now, if we can just get rid of the Beechcraft!!
Just my 2 cents.

Looks like DoJets to me.

Skyway Airlines in Discussions to Operate Delta Connection's 328JET Fleet
Tuesday April 6, 5:21 pm ET

MILWAUKEE, April 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Milwaukee-based Skyway Airlines, Inc. today confirmed that it is in discussions with Delta Air Lines, Inc. to operate the Fairchild 328JET fleet of Delta Connection, Inc. Atlantic Coast Airlines currently provides that service, but will phase out its 328JET operations later this year.

"With our experience operating the 328JET, we're in a unique position to grow our operations by assuming responsibility for operating Delta Connection's 328 fleet," said Jim Rankin, president and chief executive officer of Skyway Airlines. "We are hopeful we can come to mutually satisfactory terms." He added that Skyway would not provide further comment regarding these discussions until the parties reach an agreement or terminate their discussions.

"Skyway has been evaluating opportunities to operate aircraft for other airlines, which would constitute a shift in Skyway's business model," Rankin said. "These discussions represent the first step toward such a shift." Skyway has primarily provided connections for its parent, Midwest Airlines, Inc. while operating as Midwest Connect; that service would remain independent of any operating relationship with Delta Connection.

Skyway Airlines currently offers connections to Midwest Airlines flights, as well as point-to-point service between select markets on regional jet and turboprop aircraft. Together, Midwest and Skyway offer service to 50 cities. More information is available at www.midwestairlines.com .

Jobutt,

It's Capt Jerkhole here!
You forgot to mention that in Manistee, you'd have your pick of the ugly Michigan trailer park women for a 30 mile radius.
In all seriousness, I'll bet we keep the Beeches for a few years yet. (Our President told us that most of the leases were restructured out to 2006 with the bankruptcy tom-foolery of last year)
There's a few airports in our system that, due to runway considerations, will disappear if we switch to all-jets. That's not even considering if we could fill up a 32 seat jet where once we only had to fill a 19 seat turboprop.
Also, let's face the facts that the company must be making good money on this EAS scam the gov't pays us to do. Personally, I think most EAS airports are a supreme waste of taxpayer dollars, but if they're willing to give my airline money to go there, who's to turn it down? Now, if your little town is a 3 hour drive from the nearest airport, yes, you need EAS. If you can drive 30-45 minutes and get to an airport, then your little town is simply leeching away Federal dollars better spent elsewhere.
FMLA has been great, my feelings about the company are running very high right now, and I'm actually looking forward to coming back and making the Beech my Bitch again. I feel sorry for the FO that has to endure my first days' worth of landings, though!
I'll bring pics of the little guy, and if all goes well Jobear, maybe we'll fly in the dorkjet sometime soon. By the way, junior will be raised on a diet of cars, planes, Star Wars, and Farscape. No Trek stuff, egh.
Oh, and lots of computer games!

ps-What's it like to have an autopilot?
