Are they a good airline to work for, is it a good career starter, or possibly an airline you can easily work for 1o years down the road and make a living. Or should I try and hold out for something like American Eagle.

If ya wanna fly right seat for 4 to 6 years then go to AE. If you want to upgrade in as early as 6 months then go to Skyway...

pretty much a no brainer if you ask me..

Skyway is an awesome place to work for so far....they treat you like a professional...and I havent run into anyone that has anything bad to say about them , other than the ususal complaints about scheduling and so on...I came in with 2,200 total and had recently been flying a 1900 for another operator 121, they want to type me right off the bat, and talked about upgrade alot quicker than 6 months....they have a need for 1900 people....but everyone here is really nice and friendly, havent run into a butthead yet...

Well I'm just a MEI with my eye on an airline career and I finally have the time that I can start applying, I understand that upgrading is a desirable thing but how should I consider that with the long run scheme of things...what kind of pay raise can I expect, and how about the ease of transition into a position with a major Carrier.

Also Once and a while I see stuff on here about skyway and Delta getting together, what exactly is the deal with that.
No official deal yet be we are all waiting patiently. As far as working here at Skyway I've been here a couple years and everyone that I've flown/worked with has been great. We do have a lot of new hires right now in anticipation of DCI flying so it's not as tight knit as it was over the last couple years. Weirds me out a little to hear new hires complaining about schedules when people that have been here for 2,3,& 4 years sat reserve for 2.5 years; C'est la Vie.
MEC and the Company recently worked out a deal whereby we started getting our hourly Per Diem early and the new pay rates kick in on the 15th of Aug. Beech rates are better than Mesa and the Dornier rates lag a little on the ACA rates.

All in all a great bunch of pilots to work with(except me I'm usally grumpy and looking for a smoke).

....and maybe the crew bases while you're at it? Is it just MKE and maybe CVG for the DAL flying if it happens?

Only base is MKE. IF the DL deal is finalized, expect CVG to be a base.

I'm curious then, If there is no official deal with Delta, are they hiring all of these new pilots with that anticipation and if that doesn't work out are they just going to can everyone?

SF-Git back into your cave no one rang your bell, I may just pass up upgrade now so you can't get a better line:p

Roscoe- all pilots hired are told that this is dependant on the DCI contract, so to answer your question yes, but we prefer the term furloughed:rolleyes:

Ya you just gotta make that transition to major carrier carefully. What with so many hiring these days ya gotta think ahead.

But seriously, I wouldn't worry about this step. I doubt the majors left in 5 years from now will do any hiring until 2008 - 2010. Any hiring will be with the LC ones.

Joey Bear...you are a D!ck! How are ya bud?

sEWR standup and I think I may have died half way back to MKE. Rancid coffee is really good for the ole Ulcer. And I'm not a Dyck I'm a A$$whole:p (just ask my wife she'll tell ya).
