He has a ranch in Arizona. The last time I saw Sky King, he and his niece Penny were coming out of the blue of the western sky in their C310.

'Sled,

LOL...How quickly the great ones are forgotten !! I can even remember the Bamboo Bomber he flew before the -310.

SkyKing is a charter outfit with some 737's...they fly sports teams, rock stars, and even some important people. Ran across their website recently, but can't remember what it was.

Look on speednews.com, "aircraft wanted" and look for their ad. The email address following the "@" is the website.

They are not "new" nor are they a recent start up, they have been around for some time. Older 73-200's I believe with most business being done in the sports teams arena, etc. They are also tied in with Vacation Express.

Vacation Express, a wholly owned subsidiary of RCG Companies (Amex: RCG) has announced that it will offer scheduled charter flights from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport in Pennsylvania to Orlando-Sanford International Airport and Myrtle Beach International Airport beginning March 11, 2004. The service will be on B-737-200 aircraft provided by Sky King Airlines headquartered in Sacramento, CA and Aviation Technologies, Inc. of Avoca, PA. The introductory airfare for either destination will start at $69 each way. Seats are limited at the introductory fare.

"We strive to be the low cost leader," said Gregg Lukenbill, owner of Sky King Airlines. "This move to tour and leisure travel only enhances our ability to perform in different markets. All we have to do is apply the same high demanding service from our sports teams on one side of the tour and leisure travelers on the other. All you have to do is choose your seat."

final answer?!

The genius of Skyking is that almost ANY criminal could be defeated by dropping a sack of flower on their getaway car from a twin-Cessna.

Wonder how Penny is looking these days?

A while back I ran across a website that had some of the old episodes that you could watch. Oh the memories... Back when the show was running I was in elementary and junior high. Those were the days when I'd ride my bike to the airport on weekends and dream of the day that I would be able to fly. Penny was HOT. Now I realize how contrived that whole situation was. Let's see, a good looking young woman, with nothing much going for her other than her looks, getting to fly state-of-the-art flying machines while in her early 20's while guys with more experience and better qualifications are scratching their heads wondering why they can't get hired. Naw, nothing like that happens these days.

'Sled,

Yes, but did you also have your Captain Midnight Secret Decoder Badge ?

Capt. Midnight was waaaay cooler than Sky King. CM was flyin' a jet and rackin' up the turbojet PIC time !! Which we all know is worth much more than recip time.

You can put gin in your Ovaltine, but you gotta be one tough hombre !!

"Winky Dink and You" isn't aviation related, so we won't get into that.

They did not even last till the end of year here. I believe their first scheduled flight was late along with many subsequent flights.

Also, a big local news story about a copilot being taken off of the plane in cuffs for being drunk or hung over. Never heard about the outcome of this but the result was bye bye for Vacation Express in AVP.

I would copy information for you but they have it protected so that it can't be copied. Sorry!

SkyKing used to fly the Sacramento Kings out of Sac Metro in 90's in a BAC 111. There were some issues with MX and the Kings went to another provider. The are now flying 2 or 3 737s for other sports teams (most NHL teams) and charters for other sport leagues. Last year they were looking for FOs. Rumor has it that they hired a few FO's with 200 ME and had them trained at employee's expense. But then again, its just a rumor. I hear it is a better company to work for now.

Unfortunately, now law enforcement would go after him for dropping "anthrax" from the aircraft.

The words “prank” and “airplane” never mix but a couple of wags in Arizona, who undoubtedly had the best of intentions, could pay a heavy price for their afternoon of “fun.” Joshua Parriott, 29, of Phoenix and his passenger James Klein, 42, of Chandler, face three misdemeanor charges and could face federal prosecution after they allegedly dropped sacks of flour from an airplane over a wilderness area. According to the Scottsdale Republic, they were apparently doing it as a joke on friends engaged in a paintball game in the forest below.
