Any SIUC (Southern Illinios University, Carbondale) alumi out there or former Mt. SAC (Mount San Antonio College) alumi out there?

Here's the deal, I'm desparate to get on with a carrier and would like to know if anyone out here is willing to give a fellow a LOR to get him working?

I'm a CFI-AIM with 1580TT, and 275ME. I have a B.S. degree and just took my ATP written. I'm ready to work anywhere in the world.

I think I'm doing everything I can, I've sent resumes to 34 different companies maybe even yours!

Thanks

I packed my bags after graduation, 1990, and with 600tt/50 ME burning a hole in my logbook, I moved to FL, sending out several hundred resumes . . not even a nibble. Branniff shut down, Eastern, Midway, and therefore all the commuters that fed them (Midway Connection, Eastern Express) and there went my hopes for a job.

Thankfully, this market isn't as bad, and you have enough time for an ATP, so you're in a better position than I was.

You are saying that you want to get on with a "carrier" though, which is an airline term, yet you are posting to a "corporate" board, and I notice you have listed some EMB120 time in your profile. Which kind of job are you looking for- corporate, or airline?

If no one has told you yet, let me be the first- if you want a corporate job, don't use any terms that will indicate to a potential employer that you have airline aspirations . . . especially now, when insurance companies are making many jet operators spend $5,000-$10,000 getting FO's FSI or Simuflite training. That includes putting "F/E written" on your resume, and putting that EMB time on your resume may or may not be a good idea, for the same reason.

If you are looking for an airline job, posting to a corporate board is probably not the best place to do so. While you might get someone on the "regional" board to respond, you'd probably do better to walk your stuff in in person, or go to a job fair than put out a blind request for someone to write a letter about someone they never met (you say you want a ""LOR" which is a letter of recommendation).

Often times, those letters are broken out at the interview, and if it comes out that you have never even met the person who you are submitting a letter from, it will probably make the Interviewer wonder how honest you've been with the rest of the process. I would abandon that idea!

Corporate Carrier

I understand what you mean about the word carrier. Especially, when it comes down to the type of flying I would like to do. I'll just knock on those doors and hopefully get someone to help. Thanks for your advice.
