I couldn't figure our how, or I'm not allowed to create a poll, so I'll just ask it.
Maybe someone smarter than me can turn it into an actual poll.

WOULD YOU BE IN FAVOR OF A SINGLE, STANDARDIZED (FAIR !) PAYSCALE BASED ON EQUIPMENT/SEAT/LENGHT-OF-SERVICE WHICH APPLIES TO ALL CARRIES ?

YES: I would be in favor of a single and fair payscale.

NO: I think pilots should negotiate their wages with their individual companies
the way it is now.

Please answer yes or no only.

I think everyone's position would be based on if they were at a good carrier making good money (the no voters) or a poor paying carrier (the yes voters).

So, I would vote no.

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw this.

No.

No.

When times are good and my company is doing well I don't want to be limited by a national scale. Same with the bad times. I don't want to have to accept a concessionary agreement that doesn't really fit my airlines' situation.

I want my own pilot negotiators working on my issues at my airline. I shudder to think who would even negotiate a standard payscale on such a broad level for my airline. Who would do it? ALPA National? If we hate them now we'd be ready to cruxify them then....

This is quasi socialism.

Nyet.

This is exactly why we are in the position we are now. You are a sucker if you think that because you are doing ok now that you will not be the one giving concessions next time around. If we brought all the crappy paying carriers scales up to where the high paying carriers are, everyone would be paid well and the competition would be based on the level and quality of service your company provides, which is how it really should be. I think this is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately there are too many ostriches in this industry so I can't see it ever happening.

Yes one pay scale.

Plus, provisions for taking the same payscale and position at your next airline.

For example, you are a 10 year captain at xyz airline and that airline fails, you should be able to start at your next airline as a 10 year paid captain. Not a 1st year FO.

FN FAL,

The big question is.... HOW! How are pilots, who don't control airlines and hiring, going to convince the next airline to pay a pilot a 10 year scale during his first year? First year pay is every managements wet dream.

Answer the how.

OR

How much negotiating captial are you willing to give up to get it. IOW who is going to pay for it. It all comes down to the dollar.

Wow, what a concept! Right there in front of us all along and nobody could see it. Brilliant!
It's like the veil of ignorance has been lifted from mine eyes. I've got it! If we only fed everyone on the planet there would be no hunger! If we gave everyone homes there would be no homeless! If everyone agreed to world peace there would be no war!
Ugh.

Hey, let's just pass a national law making the minimum wage $140,000/year. That way everyone in the country could afford a nice car, house and college expenses.

Keep The Replies Coming !!

Thanks for the inputs...all opinions are welcome !!

We're not talking about jamming a single-concept down everyone's throat.

We need input and ideas to solve the problems and we need dialogue amonst us.

Remember: It's Labor vs. Management, and ALPA is not doing it's job.
Keep the ideas coming and spread the word.
Things ARE getting organized. Behind the scenes. You just don't see it yet.

Keep the Faith

All airlines pay the same? NO
What I would like to see is a nationally agreed upon benchmark that each individual airline's employees can strive for. Example (shooting from the hip) FOs: $20/hr plus $1/seat, CA: $35/hr plus $1/seat, or perhaps it should be based on gross weight. The formula needs to be a little more advanced, but it would creat a solid baseline to compare to.

Whatever the final scale, appears there'll always be the problem of those exerting downward pressure and outright undermining of it by willing to work for half of whatever scale is finalized. Or less. And then there are those who will hire them.

Who is we?

How is ALPA not doing its job?

It is not that I don't agree (or do agree).

I'm just weary of general and vague statements that can mean something to everyone but yet aren't the same....
