I'm hoping to be ready to take my comm single engine add-on ride in a couple of weeks.. should I expect the standard 1-2 oral exam? This will be my first ride with this examiner, so they're not familiar with me from a previous commercial ride. Or are add-on rating orals typically pretty short, straightforward, etc.?

I'm assuming you're adding on the single-engine to an exisiting commercial multi. Usually the add-on oral will be shorter, I know it definitely is when adding a multi to a commercial single. Every examiner is different though.

Make sure you look in the PTS additional rating table so you know exactly what he has to test you on.

Be prepared for the worst. Worst thing that can happen is that you know everything.
Study it all, because you're going to need to know it some day, just get it out of the way now.
