Don't expect any silly crap on the checkride, its all straight-forward. Engine failures will happen at like 60 knots or after rotation, not at V1 plus .0001 knots. They are not gonna do that. Also, if you see the low hydraulic annunciator, just plan on a gear failure, assume it. On my type ride I started pumping it down and the examiner said "uh, try to act like I surprised you" with a chuckle. Also, if you are at 12,000 doing steep turns and the examiner fails the door seal, verbally brief the emergency descent but show him you are congizant that you are at 12,000 and may not need a Space Shuttle re-entry to get to 10,000. He will like that. Any NOISES in the sim are door seals which mean look at the press gage, which also means get ready for masks. Other noises are ice on the wings.
CHECK RIDE TIP, if you are in visible moisture, below +5 C, just pop the boots every freaking 2 minutes till your fingers get tired. They like to load you up extra heavy with ice in the sim to drive home the point of icing dangers. Or at least they did with me.
They will NOT fail the GS on the ILS while single engine then say "new minimums kid! what are they? what is the missed? did you brief it? PINK SLIP KID" they will not do that, that is Acme 141 school crap, they will be professional and present real-world scenarios to you. Much of the checkride and training scenarios comes from previous accidents throughout history and is coordination with Simuflight's FAA contacts.
Plan on some yellow light items, just fly the plane and get the checklist out and read the procedure.
Some stuff taught in the schoolhouse does NOT have real-world applications, such as "any light before V-1, we abort". I flew with a guy who had an RVS light come on (simply means the prop levers came off the full prop position .1 millimeter and tripped the flasher, real world, no big deal) and we aborted a gross weight takeoff in Ayacucho, Peru, at 9000 ft field elevation, runway ends at the end of a mountain. Don't know if the abort was "safer" than just rotating and flying. But that is another story for another thread.
Enjoy it, you will have fun
