Does anyone have any info on Singapore Intl, Airlines Cargo. I've flown on there passenger palnes and the service was great. I heard if you have a 74-400 type they will hire you into the right seat right off the street even with next to zero time in type, and if you don't have a type, they will hire you into the right seat but make you sign some crazy long (5 years) contract.

Just looking what is out there for adventure, and it would be pretty cool to get into a 747 at 23. Thanks.

Go to pprune.org...lot's of info on SIA Cargo. I ran into a couple of guys from SIA pax side at a bar while on vacation...they told me to stay away from SIA Pax and Cargo...guys are miserable there...pprune.org forums confirm this. The contract is horrible. And apparently, there is still a heathly supply of +5000hr pilots w/ type ratings from the States and Europe that are interviewing, so the 2500hr published mins on the SIA website are just for "show". Just to give you an example, on the SIA Cargo side...pilots do not get paid for deadheads...can you believe it? They will deadhead you from Singapore to Amsterdam (in coach, I hear) and you don't get nothin'. And that 747 type rating that your mouth is watering about (hey, I thought the same thing too) carries a 5 year, $60,000 ENFORCABLE bond....remember this is Singapore, you have no work rights there...your foriegn labor. Also, I had another guy email me the terms and conditions...basically boarderline endentured servitude.

I hear Emirates, CAL, EVA, and CX are good places that like expats...of course these positions are very competitive because lot's of pilots from the States, South America, Asia and Europe apply...most guys have 4000-5000hrs w/ jet types and 1000 turbine PIC. I'm waiting to build more time to be competitve for these carriers...

Good luck...

CAL and EVA are not much better then SQ. As for CX, a sound company but there upgrade are hell only 2 out of 11 passed the recent A330 upgrade course. Typical arrogant CX style.
