I heard rumor of a small class starting this fall. If you are thinking of applying here, do a search on this board. Also please do take a good look around and ask many questions when you are out here in Ft. Fun on itnerview day. On the up side it is one of the only regionals that I know of where one can fly 100hrs a month and upgrade in about a year!

shuttlecraft rumor---a very strong and decisive announcements will be announced this friday regarding significant changes. :D good luck !!!

We're finally getting them DC-2's, then?

;)

Its been wierd the last three weeks. We've had the president of Republic visit the Fort Wayne headquarters three times a week. I've heard that we could possibly be getting ready for a merge with Republic which would kick butt with the 401k match! BUT, it doesnt make much sense because CHQ got rid of the turbo props to become an all jet fleet three years ago. Or maybe its just some plot so Republic can have a tax write-off and save a few bucks?????

I dont really know but I guess we all will see the announcement in the next few days..

The people in the front office I have talked to disavow any knowledge of a 'big announcement' coming up on friday.

Ya sure this isn't another "hee hee hee, let's start a rumor and see how long it takes to get around" scenario?

Five bucks sez it is.

Unless, of course, the "big announcement" is:

-Upgrade Class

-New Hire Class

-New destinations for United

In any of those cases, I'm keepin' my five bucks.

Anyone looking to come on with Scuttle, THINK long and hard before you say "I do." This is a warning from a line point of view! If you love flying and don't mind spending a year of your life chained to a company that will just treat you as "equipment" rather than a human being, then by all means "JUST DO IT." On the other hand if Quality Of Life is AT ALL something you cherish then you may want to find happiness somewhere else. Some of the folks that got on here left shortly after they found out that, uh-oh, they made a huge mistake by saying "yes" first and getting that Regional jet operators call while in training. They eventually left after signing a YEAR contract, with some guys just two or three months in. Now they are on the hook for a poss. $11,000, or lawers fees to fight it. Here are some facts for you:

First year F/O: $22/hr then a huge dollar a year after that.
Contract:.....mmmm not so good.
Why is contract bad?:Unlimited Junior Manning=4 days off per month (this is only because the FAA says it's illegal to go less than that.)
Pilots:Second to none, if it weren't for these folks I'm sure the airline would fall apart.

I'd better stop there or I might start saying how I really feel.

Anyway, To anyone brave enough to come on.....Good Luck!
To anyone smart enough to stay away...Good Luck!

huh huh huh... "scuttle"... That's a good one. Never heard that before.

But yes, QOL is not this place's strong point. The funny part is that it'll finally improve in the next two months when we reduce our flying and United is the only code-share. The CEO is committed to "no furloughs" so the oft-wished-for 5 crews per airplane will finally be realized, even if they need to hire to do it. And I have every confidence the new DO will affect some changes for the good.

Maybe come October we'll actually be able to PDO off to go to, say, your best friend's wedding and not have to tell them, the wednesday before the blessed event, "sorry, can't make it, I have to work".

Not that this has happened to me or anything. It certainly hasn't happened TWICE in the last two years.

As for the pay, well, it'd be a very strange occurrence indeed if you found yourself on the third-year FO pay scale, and I dare say that even with the slowdown of upgrades you'll find yourself in the left seat in no more than 18mos. Enough people have left and continue to leave (from both seats) that movement on the list should stay that way.

The crew room in PIT is not often a place where warm, fuzzy feelings are shared, but I've found that friends at most airlines say that there's complaining galore going on in their shops, too... Just not as much as here.

And I'll second the ice guy about the quality of your coworkers: Second to none.

Okee dokee.

If it's good enough, shuttlecraft, you'll get the five bucks.

I've met the new D.O. and let me say it is definately a step in the right direction. Hope he doesn't get burned out 'cause it's definately a lot to take on and correct - but from what I've heard about him and my first impressions, I plan to give him a chance.

As for this Friday, rumors at Shuttle spread like lice and seeing is believing. But if things start working out with the new D.O. as I expect and good news comes out this friday, I'll change my avitar!

We're gonna hold you to that one, Ben.

Managements Current Position

Just read that you have new management?
who is the new DO, any one know what happened to the old one?

FE

Answer to your question in refrence to the new DO. As long time ago "original" to the Shuttle Dash 8 program prior to the shift to Wexford, I can tell you that the pilot group and company is EXTREMELY fortunate to have this gentleman at the helm. He was both the Director of Safety and the Chief Pilot/Lead Check Airman for the original Shuttle America and is by far the brightest and best person I've ever been lucky enough to work for, and probably will ever work for. If you are planning on leaving or on the fence I urge you to put an enormous amount of faith in his hands, as if he is given the room to do so by upper Management I have no doubt that better things are to come (well deservedly) for the Flight Operations group at S5. I wish him all the best in his new position, and envy those of you who will have the distinct opportunity to work with him.

SO in the meantime...."Get yo drink on, get yo snack on, cuz at Shuttle America we got you cove'd like a jimmyhat"

Its Friday and i just heard the "Big Anouncement" Looks like the rumor of a new hire and upgrade class are true.

I.P. can keep his 5 bucks afterall!

Regarding the free grocery money, I do give the management my thanks and it was a nice gesture.

800 packs of Ramen noodles should last a few months. ;)

It was a nice "thank you".

Darn management, just when I start to lose hope (and I'm normally pretty positive) they do something nice. :)

Guess I'll stick around and finally tighten I.P.'s fuel flow gauge.
